I came across this really fun tag recently. Its called ‘Shop your Stash‘ and you basically go through your entire collection and pick out the products you haven’t used at all or rarely used! It feels like having “new” products to use without the expenditure! I picked out 10
forgotten neglected pieces from my stash and you’ll see me incorporate these more in my looks/tutorials in the future!
Here are my products ~
1. MAC Lychee Luxe Lipglass
Lychee Luxe is a golden coral lip gloss that I bought without even swatching! This was about 2 years back, around the time when sometimes I used to foolishly buy products (without swatching) after reading a good review. The first time I tried it, I felt it looked a little pale on my pigmented lips. But when I rediscovered it recently while organizing my makeup, I realized I can easily work it with a darker lip liner or lipstick underneath.
2. Bourjois Effet 3D MAX Effet Lip gloss – Rose Yummy
I kept is aside for review after using it a couple of times and forgot all about it. Its a gorgeous soft rose pink color and the formula is slightly sticky but wears long. Intend to use it more for everyday wear!
3. The Body Shop Honey Bronze Gel
I love using bronzers and I find that cream/liquid products give a nicer blended finish on the skin. This is a like tinted oil/gel with fine golden bronze shimmer – sounds great but is quite runny and not as effortless to use as powder bronzers. I used it a couple of times but then it got buried in my stash months ago but now I intend to use it again!
4. Illamasqua Pigment – Ore
I’ve had this for more than a year and had kept it aside to be used for a very special look but somehow I completely forgot about it. I felt this was a spectacularly gorgeous product and I wanted to do justice to it! I recently used it in my latest tutorial (Golden Glittery Smokey eye) and hope to use it more. Its a loose pigment – a beautiful antique gold color with high glitter like shine but finer texture.
5. MAC eye shadow – Knight Divine
This is a fairly new purchase but somehow I completely forgot about it once I put it in my MAC palette. I’m not very fond of grey eye shadows and this was a bit of an impulse purchase. But I think it will look great in a smokey eye so I’ll do a look with this soon!
6. Maxfactor Color Elixir Lipstick – Scarlet Ghost
This is a gorgeous berry pink color with a formula that rivals high end lipsticks. I have way too many lipsticks but I do manage to wear quite a lot of them, this one however got neglected. Its such a great color to wear in rainy, cold weather, you’ll see it in a look soon!
7. Urban Decay Primer Potion – Sin
I’d bought this from Sephora Singapore in 2011 and used it barely 3-4 times. They didn’t have the clear variant at the store and I bought this shimmery champagne one. Its quite high in shine but I can definitely use it more in my neutral makeup looks.
8. Dior Addict Lipstick – 773 Rouge Podium
Its my first Dior and I have worn it only once. Not that the formula or the color isn’t absolutely lovely, it just felt too precious to keep in my regular use stuff and it lay forgotten in a box with some other high end things I don’t use too often. I’ll review it soon!
9. Make Up For Ever Star Powder – 930
Another product that lay forgotten in my ‘high-end products’ box. Its a lovely copper colored pigment, gorgeous for bridal wear and evening wear metallic smokey eyes. I think it would pair beautifully with the Dior lipstick mentioned above!
10. MAC Blush – Plumfoolery
This is the foolish purchase I was talking about earlier. I read a great review, purchased it without even swatching and then didn’t like how it looked on my skin. Its a mix of brown and plum – a combination that does not look good on my skin. But I recently tried it with a bright berry pink lip and it didn’t look so bad.
