My take on the Product
The Lakme Absolute Lip tints comes in a black twist up crayon packaging with a transparent cap. The see through cap allows the color of the crayon tip to show through and the lettering on the tube is the same color as the tint shade. Even so, I prefer the Clinique Chubby Stick/Revlon packaging wherein the entire tube is colored so its easy to locate the shade. While I’m generally a fan of black packaging, I do not particularly like this packaging because it doesn’t feel very luxe. Its not flimsy and doesn’t look tacky but its neither pretty nor very classy looking. Its such a fun product with a fresh, summery feel to it – I really wish a little more thought had gone into aesthetics of the packaging.
The texture of Lip tint is quite creamy – its creamier than both Revlon and Clinique counterparts. Its also very pigmented so all you need is a 1-2 swipes to get true color on the lips. It is quite moisturizing and the jelly like cushion-y texture along with the soft glossy finish gives a healthy look to the lips. It also diffuses the look of lip lines giving a smoother look. Unlike the Revlon Balm Stain, its not drying over time and even though the glossiness fades, the lips don’t parch up.
The pigmentation and wear time varies across the range. Candy Kiss is one of the softer shades – its a gorgeous coral color that gives medium pigmentation to the lips, stays for about 3-4 hours and leaves a soft stain behind. On my lips, its not too orangey – its got a hint of pink. I love this color – its very wearable yet not so sheer and would work for a lot of skin tones. If you love corals or sheer brights, you should definitely check this out! The only drawback of this shade is that it doesn’t wear too long since its on the sheerer side. Unlike the shade Peach Please, I faced no issues of patchiness with this shade.
Quick Comparison ~
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains (Rs 600) – are cheaper than Lakme, last longer but have a little less pigment so need layering, are drying over time and draw attention to dry lips/lines.
Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Balms (Rs 1025) – are more expensive, equally moisturizing but have much less pigment and hence, don’t stay long.
The GOOD about Lakme Absolute Lip Tint Candy Kiss :
- Soft, creamy texture
- Good pigmentation
- Moisturizing – don’t need balm touch ups
- Gives good coverage – evens out pigmented lips
- Leaves a soft stain behind
- Have a very light fragrance (grape?)
- Softens the look of fine lines
- Not drying over time
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Absolute Lip Tint Candy Kiss :
- The packaging could have been more attractive
- Low wear time
- Priced high
There is no getting away from the fact that these are expensive! But I love the creamy texture, good pigmentation (varies across shades) and moisturizing formula. They combine the best of Revlon Balm Stains (pigment, longevity) and Clinique Chubby Stick balms (moisturization) in my opinion. The shade range is quite varied but every shade is different in terms of pigmentation and longevity. The only thing I do not like is the packaging – its such a fun collection in concept – somehow that didn’t quite translate in the packaging.
Candy Kiss is a pretty coral color which is quite wearable and is supposedly Kareena Kapoor’s favorite one from the range!
