My take on the Product

I really like Bourjois glosses because they combine good wear time with a non-sticky formula – quite a rare combination! Previously I’ve tried a natural pink shade (03 Brun Rose Academic) and a deep raspberry pink (Framboise Hollywood – Smile Enhancing gloss range) from Bourjois gloss lineup. The gloss comes in a transparent tube packaging and a brush applicator. I prefer doe foot applicators to brush ones, I feel they are give a  more even and effortless application of the product.

Orange Energic is a sheer true orange color  which contains very subtle shimmer. The consistency is not too thick, its quite non-sticky and very moisturizing. It feels very comfortable on the lips and despite being non-sticky and sheer, it wears a good 4+ hours on me (with light snacking in between). It doesn’t get tacky or sticky over time which is something I really like in a gloss!

It adds just a subtle hint of color onto my lips but doesn’t offer any coverage to my pigmented lips. I think its best worn over a nude or soft peach lipstick. In the FOTD in this post, I’ve worn it over a light dab of concealer on the lips. I do wish there was a bit more pigment in there. But on the upside, it makes a great shade for everyday wear and gives a very fresh look to the face. The color just adds some warmth to my lips without being too bright which would be great for those prefer subtle makeup.

The GOOD about Bourjois Effet 3D Gloss 55 Orange Energic :

– Non sticky texture

– Very light weight

– Feels comfortable and hydrating

– Gives a wet shine to the lips

– Soft color – great for those who like subtle makeup

– Decent wear time

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Effet 3D Gloss 55 Orange Energic :

– Color is very sheer, doesn’t offer any coverage to pigmented lips

– Would have preferred a doe foot applicator to a brush one

Overall Verdict

I really like Bourjois glosses because they combine good wear time with a non-sticky formula – quite a rare combination! The texture is neither too thin nor thick, it feels very comfortable and hydrating on the lips. It gives a sheer wash of orange and a wet glossy shine to the lips that stays for an easy 4+ hours. I like the gloss and find it lovely for everyday wear. The only thing I don’t like is how sheer it is. It barely offers any coverage to pigmented lips so a light dab of concealer or nude lipstick is needed underneath.

Rating : 3.75/5

Update on the Bourjois Manucure Toppings ~

The Nail toppings wore surprisingly well! I’d expected them to fall off within a day but only the ones near the nail tip dropped off after 1 day. The remaining part stayed put for a full week. A top coat is a MUST to seal them in (I’d used the Oriflame one) so don’t skip that. Also don’t touch them too soon after application, wait for at least 5 minutes for the underlying nail paint to dry completely or they’ll stick to your finger and come off! I’d also recommend using them just on 1 nail instead of on all of them. I’m going to try them again maybe with a darker nail polish this time 🙂

  1. HI ! ankitha i really love your blog . anikitha can you review about simple make up for the college with less and available cosmetics in stores and pelase suggest me a nude pink lipstick or lip pencil that is easily available and looking so natural.

  2. I’ve always felt that bourjois glosses were too expensive but paying that much for a colorless gloss is unthinkable for me. I got the maybelline captivating coral gloss and even though it looks a little bright and yellowy when first applied, it kinda adapts and darkens in a few mins..becomes a pretty orangey coral 🙂
