Today I’m reviewing a cleansing product that I absolutely love! This product came highly recommended to me by many people. Its a cleansing balm – works same as a cleansing oil and it is just the most fabulous makeup remover I’ve ever used!
Price : Rs 2000 ($28.50 in the US) for 125 ml
What Clinique says about the Product :
Lightweight makeup remover quickly dissolves tenacious eye and face makeups, sunscreens. Transforms from a solid balm into a silky oil upon application. Cleans thoroughly, rinses off completely. Non-greasy. Non-drying. Ophthalmologist Tested. For all skin types.
My take on the Product
The product comes in a huge tub with a screw on silver lid. The packaging is quite sturdy though its pretty big for carrying around. Its also a tub packaging which means you’ve to dip in your fingers every time to scoop out the product. Now considering the solid consistency of the product, a tub is the most obvious thing to house it in but I still don’t like dipping my fingers in everytime. Sometimes, I’m halfway through removing my makeup and realize I need a little more of the balm and have to wipe my fingers clean first before scooping out some more product.
The product has a thick chapstick-like balm consistency and on light massage on the skin, it melts to a light oil. To remove my makeup, I scoop a small amount of the balm and massage it using my fingers on my entire face (on dry skin) including the eyes. It dissolves light makeup within 10 seconds of massage and more stubborn waterproof makeup is another 20-25 seconds. I then use a few drop of water and massage that into the balm-oil on my face. This emulsifies the product after which I massage for another 10-12 seconds and wash off everything with water. It leaves my face absolutely cleansed and my skin clear and glowing! It does enter my eyes when I massage over that area using my fingertips but it gets rinsed off with water so I do not mind. It doesn’t leave an oily residue on my skin but neither does it dry it out. I don’t feel the need to follow this up with a face wash. My skin feels really soft and smooth post cleansing. I have oily acne prone skin and since I do not use rich creams for massage, my daily ritual with my cleansing balm is really soothing and softening for my skin. It has never broken me out or aggravated existing breakouts.
There is nothing NOT to LOVE about this product! Its removes every trace of even the most stubborn makeup and leaves the skin feeling and looking absolutely wonderful! It will work beautifully for dry as well as oily skin types. It is allergy tested and fragrance-free so it should work for people with sensitivity issues as well.
Smeared some balm on swatches of Long stay lipstick, Eye/lip liners and waterproof mascara ~
Massaged gently for about 20 sec and added few drops of water ~
Washed off with water and patted dry ~

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm :
– I don’t love tub packaging but it seems like the best thing for a balm product
Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm is hands-down the best makeup cleanser I have used. The thick balm transforms to a light oil on massage and dissolves all kinds of makeup. It emulsifies easily with water and rinses off completely leaving the skin perfectly cleansed, soft and smooth. My face GLOWS everytime I use this product and it has never broken out my oily, acne prone skin. I love this product! Highly recommended!
