Today I’m reviewing the MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip balm in a soft, natural shade that launched with the Apres Chic collection some time back.
Price : Rs 1400 for 10 ml
My take on the Product
This is my first experience with MAC lip balms and I have mixed feelings about this product. While the formula is supremely hydrating and comforting, I don’t find it easy to use. It comes in a squeeze tube packaging with slanted nozzle for application. I find the texture of the lip balm VERY thick and I need to apply a LOT of pressure to squeeze out some product. I think there was an air pocket inside the product so when I applied pressure, the tube burst a little from the crimped end. So now every time I squeeze some product out, a little bit comes from the tear at the other end as well. Its quite possible that my tube was a little defective but nevertheless, I don’t find it easy to use.
The texture is very thick and rich. Its a little difficult to spread which makes it not so easy to use. It is very moisturizing though so that’s a redeeming factor. It hydrates and softens the lips, smoothens out chapped and dry bits and just repairs the lips really well. Its not very sticky, it is slightly sticky but as much as the MAC Lipglasses. It stays on the lips for a few hours, typically 3-4 hours on mine with light snacking in between. I prefer using this overnight as a lip treatment and then exfoliating my lips in the morning to scrub off all the softened dead skin. Pure & Tender is sheer flesh toned shade, looks pretty much transparent on my lips. The shimmer that is quite apparent in the tube barely translates on the lips so its practically a transparent balm.
I’m quite fond of the formula by itself but I don’t find myself reaching for this often. Lip balm is such a basic product and it should be easy and convenient to use. With the tear at the back of the tube and the immense pressure required to squeeze out the product, I find myself rarely using this.
The GOOD about MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm Pure & Tender :
– Very hydrating
– Softens and smoothens rough, chapped lips
– Sheer color, can be paired with with lipsticks
The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm Pure & Tender :
– Very thick texture, doesn’t squeeze out easily
– Defective packaging (could be just my piece)
I’m quite fond of the formula by itself but I don’t find myself reaching for this often. Lip balm is such a basic product and it should be easy and convenient to use. With the tear at the back of the tube and the immense pressure required to squeeze out the product, I find myself rarely using this. It hydrates, softens and repairs the lips well and women with very dry lips (and with a lip balm fetish!) would like how it works. I hope the packaging flaw was just my particular piece.
