Today I’m reviewing a lovely soft earth toned blush from Avon – shade Earthen Rose from the Ideal Luminous range. I quite like the lipsticks and blushes in Avon’s lineup and this is one blush that I’d seen a lot of bloggers talk about!
Price : Rs 599 for 6.23 g (can be purchased on discount)
My take on the Product
The blush comes in a nice black plastic packaging which is fairly sturdy. I ended up dropping it twice but thankfully neither the packaging nor the blush cake broke! It comes with a brush which isn’t too scratchy and fairly fluffy so can be used while one is traveling etc. I think Avon has tried to emulate the look of Chanel blush packaging with these blushes.
The blush has a silky soft texture and the powder is finely milled. Its not too heavily pigmented so its easy to apply this – don’t have to worry about going overboard. For this reason which shade would make a lovely bronzer/contouring powder for pale complexions too. I love the finish of this blush! Its not matte but its not exactly shimmery. Luminous describes it perfectly! I have oily skin and large open pores on my nose and cheeks which draw attention whenever I use a blush with a bit of shimmer. But this is so so understated – it only gives a soft glow to my cheeks without emphasizing the pores. You can hardly see the shimmer in there, its very very subtle. While I like the texture, buildable pigmentation, the staying power is not amazing. Its not bad either, I get about 5.5-6 hours of wear roughly but after 3.5-4 hours, there quite a bit of fading. I also feel like it gets slightly uneven as it fades, not majorly but only if you look closely.
The shade Earthen Rose is a soft earth toned shade and supposedly a dupe of MAC Harmony blush. Now I do not own MAC Harmony but I’ve seen this listed as a dupe on one of the Pixiwoo videos. I’m not into earth toned blushes at all, I always pick up pinks and corals but I love this blush! Its got a bit of peachy touch so it doesn’t make the complexion dull or muddy. If you’re wearing a dusty peach or brownish coral lip color, this gives just the perfect color to complement the lips. Works beautifully with warm smokey eyes as well. Avon products are often on discount so if you spot this on offer in any catalog, do order it. I would not recommend it for very dusky complexions though as it might not show well.
The GOOD about Avon Ideal Luminous Blush Earthen Rose :
- Sturdy, classy black packaging
- Good quantity (6.23 g)
- Soft, silky texture
- Buildable pigmentation
- Very subtle luminous finish
- Does not draw attention to pores
- Decent wear time
- Can be picked up at discount
- Very natural shade – works well with warm toned makeup
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Avon Ideal Luminous Blush Earthen Rose :
- Wear time could be better
- Gets a little uneven as it wears off
Avon Ideal Luminous Blush Earthen Rose is a lovely earth toned shade that makes a very natural blush for fair-medium skin tones and would beautifully as a bronzer too. The formula is quite nice – silky, soft texture, sheer but buildable pigmentation, soft luminous finish. The downside is that the wear time is average and it tends to get *slightly* uneven as it fades but even so, I really like this blush (and I don’t like earthy blushes in general!). I feel its a tad overpriced at its original price but if you spot it on discount, I’d totally recommend it!
Dupe for MAC Harmony Blush (Rs 1350) according to Youtube Gurus Pixiwoo.
