The Nature’s Co. Spearmint Body Wash : Review

Hey everyone!

Today I’m reviewing the Spearmint Body wash from The Nature’s Co. which I received with my April Vellvette Box.

Price : Rs 450 for 250 ml (35 ml in sample size)

My April 2013 Vellvette Box - The Nature's co Body wash

The Nature’s co Spearmint Body wash

What The Nature’s Co. says about the Product :

Purifying; Antiseptic; Cooling and refreshing.

Get tingly all over with refreshing Spearmint. It purifies, replenishes and revives your skin. This cleansing body wash lathers up in the bath or shower.

Ingredients: Spearmint extract, Pro-Vitamin B5,Vegetable Glycerin

My take on the Product

The Nature’s Co. is one of those brands which I’ve always wanted to try out but somehow never tried. I was pretty excited to see this product in my box – the green gel looked quite refreshing and I thought it would be great in this heat. Unfortunately, I did not like the Spearmint scent of this body wash. Its a green gel wash, lathers fairly well and cleans up skin nicely. Its not too runny in consistency so doesn’t pour out of the bottle in the gush – you can control the quantity. It does have a bit of cooling, tingly feeling which is refreshing in this hot weather. I’m not averse to mint smells, I like the fresh, cool sensation that beauty products containing mint have but I guess I’m more of a Peppermint than Spearmint person. This body wash just smells like toothpaste to me. And nobody fancies a bath with something than smells exactly like your toothpaste! Nevertheless, I did continue to use this sample till it got over because I like the fresh, cooling sensation it gave and the scent wasn’t heavy or lasting. It lasted me about 4-5 washes.

I have normal skin on my body – neither oily nor dry. This body wash is formulated for oily skin (according to the website) but its not drying and you won’t need a  body lotion after this (though its always a good idea to use one!). If you like Spearmint fragrance, you’d enjoy using this body wash – would be perfect for the current weather!

**I forgot to take a swatch of this and it got used up in a few washes, its basically a green gel.

The GOOD about The Nature’s Co. Spearmint Body Wash :

  1. Attractive and refreshing green gel
  2. Gives a cooling sensation to the skin
  3. Spearmint fragrance is freshening
  4. Fragrance is not too strong and doesn’t linger
  5. Cleans the skin well
  6. Doesn’t dry out the skin
  7. TNC products are cruelty free and paraben free

The NOT-SO-GOOD about The Nature’s Co. Spearmint Body Wash :

  1. Scent is a matter of personal preference – I didn’t love it

Overall Verdict

The Nature’s Co. Spearmint Body Wash is a lovely product for the summers since its a has fresh scent and leaves the skin cool and clean. Best suited for normal to oily skin, it lathers well but doesn’t dry out the skin. Do take a sniff before you buy because I didn’t like the toothpaste like scent even though I like mint scents generally.

Rating : 4/5 (-1 for the fragrance)

Availability : On TNC Website and in TNC stores.

Last week, I attended an event organized by Vellvette and The Nature’s Co. and I got a good introduction to the brand’s products from the Founder and Director Natasha Shah herself. The one product that really caught my attention was the Corn Exfoliating Face Pack. Natasha applied that on  my back of my palm and let it dry for a few minutes after which she wiped it off with a moist cotton pad. My skin looked so clean, smooth and less tanned as well! I’m definitely trying it out!

Its clay based so its perfect for my oily skin and the  scrub particlesthe skin as well. I wish it came in a smaller pack though! Its Rs 1595 for 200 g which is a LOT and would probably last me a long time.  Have any of you tried it?

Another product that sounds quite promising is the Rosemary Hibiscus Hair Mask. Its made from a lot of natural ingredients that are great for hair – especially if you’re facing a lot of hairfall. It contains rosemary, hibiscus, henna, areetha, shikakai and methi. It is priced at Rs 1095 for 125 g. The making of this product was demonstrated by Natasha along with the benefits that each ingredient adds to the product. I’m quite tempted to try this out!

toothpaste scented body wash…i dont fancy!!
the pack and the hair mask u mentioned…. these two were the only things which caught my attention while browsing through the website.. but somehow the price stopped my from buying. but they have good promotional and membership offers all the time so i am gonne pick these soon.
one more thing caught my attention was sandalwood shampoo cum conditioner. it had good reviews on the blogosphere so i emailed TNC asking if their shampoos are sulphate free, they replied that the shampoos contain small amount of sulphates 🙁
i am definitely getting their body dusting powder as it doesnt contain any talc. i have read horror stories of lung and ovarian cancer in context to talc.
if the director natasha is reading… kudos to the company for being eco friendly and peta certified.. i too love animals and the planet. pls try and make sulphate free shampoos and zinc oxide/titanium dioxide based body lotions with great moisturing factor and great broad spectrum sun protection. this combination is not yet available in indian market 🙂

Whats your hair type Jyoti? For my dry frizzy hair, Natasha suggested the Apple Guava shampoo. I’ve already ordered Organix from Purplle but once that is over, I’m thinking of giving TNC a try. My hairfall has been so much better since I gave up SLS shampoos. When my Organic Surge duo got over, I switched to Dove for a while and my hair just felt dull and weak again. Waiting for the Organix ones to arrive soon.

There is an offer on the Hair kit right in stores (till 15th I think) – check their website, you basically get about 400 Rs off on a kit containing the mask, the hair oil, hair cream and a comb.

Btw their Sandalwood face wash smells really nice! Natasha recommended me the Cucumber one for the summers and the Sandalwood one otherwise.

I really like this body wash.. Except the scent I like everything about this body wash.. I doesn’t dry out my skin at all.. Infact I’m using it as a face wash these days.. My face feels squeaky clean and at the same time not at all dry..
