Continuing with the series of Colorbar eye makeup brush reviews, next up is the Smokin’ Eyes smudger brush.
Price : Rs 250
My take on the Product
Out of all the 9 brushes (face/eyes/lips) from Colorbar, the smudger brush is one of the Top 3. The brush has the same general make up as the other brushes – white stem, black ferrule and colorful red bristles. The bristles are synthetic, fairly soft and non-scratchy.
The brush has a pointed dome shape and is quite stiff though not harsh on the eye. It is pretty useful for packing on highlighter in the inner corner of the eye and for smudging kohl along the lash lines. Since its quite dense, it picks up a good amount of eye shadow on the tip. The size is neither too small, nor too large but if you want a very subtle smokey eye, I’d recommend a smaller brush to smudge the kohl/eye shadow on the lower lash line. I personally like more pliable brushes for smudging kohl – MAC 219 and Coastal Scents pointed crease brush being favorites. My favorite way of using this Colorbar brush is for the inner corner and the tear duct. Nevertheless, if you want a smudging brush and want something available on domestic websites/stores without having to spend too much, this is a decent option.
Apart from the stiffness, my other issue with this brush was that it doesn’t get cleaned very easily. Since it accumulates mostly kohl/dark eye shadows when used for smokey eyes, it needs to washed vigorously (which is difficult since its small!) to get unstained, clean bristles. You can see from the pictures that mine is a little stained.
The GOOD about Colorbar Smokin’ Eyes Smudger Brush :
- Attractive packaging
- Soft, non-scratchy bristles
- Ideal for highlighting inner corner
- Can be used to smudge kohl
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Colorbar Smokin’ Eyes Smudger Brush :
- Difficult to clean
- Stiff, could be more pliable
Overall Verdict
A small dome shaped brush is quite handy for highlighting inner corner, patting color onto lower lash line and smudging kohl. This Colorbar brush may not be the bestest of pencil brushes but it does a decent job. Since its small and dense, it can be a little difficult to clean like most pencil brushes can be.
If you’re looking for a smudging brush, this is an affordable option.

hmmmm…..(for colorbar) nice review ankita.
This seems really nice…quite a relief from all the scratchy face brushes. Can’t wait for u to review the lip brush, Ankita. I’m very intrigued by the unconventional shape
