Today I’m reviewing one of my favorite foundations – MAC Face & Body Foundation which is a great foundation for those who want a natural, no-makeup look.
Price : Rs 1700 for 50 ml (also available in 120 ml)
What MAC Says about the Face & Body Foundation :
A comfortable, lightweight fluid foundation with a unique blend of emollients that delivers low-to-medium buildable coverage and a natural satin finish. Moisturizing, long-wearing formula glides onto face and body providing stay-true colour.
My take on the Product
The Face & Body foundation comes in a small plastic bottle with a screw on black cap. Unlike most of the other MAC foundations, the bottle is plastic instead of glass making it much more durable and light weight. I much prefer this packaging! On the downside though, the bottle just has a small opening at the top with no provision for pump etc. which makes the mouth of the nozzle quite messy.
The foundation has a runny, watery consistency. It spreads easily, blends with a few strokes and seems to absorb into the skin leaving a satiny dewy finish. The coverage is low but it can be layered to build up the coverage. What I absolutely love about this foundation is that it is very light weight on the skin and looks very natural – as if I’m wearing nothing on my face! It is long wearing, there is no patchiness or oiliness for hours after application. I’ve worn it for about 9-10 hours at a stretch with excellent results. It worked well for me during the winters when my skin was dry and it works just as well now too when my skin has become oily. It does not sit into pores or imperfections, in fact it gives the look of flawless skin especially in pictures! It doesn’t show ghostly white in flash (no SPF).
The only drawback is that the coverage is pretty low. Even when layered, it will not cover up dark circles and blemishes. But with a bit of spot concealing in those areas, one can get a flawless, yet natural look. In all the pictures in this post, I’ve worn MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC42 under the eyes, around the nose and on blemishes along with the Face and Body foundation. You can see the end result comes out quite nice! The best tools to apply this foundation are a flat Foundation brush like Inglot 21T or fingers. Do not use a sponge with this one, it will drink it up since its a very watery, thin foundation.
Overall, I think this is one of the best foundations I’ve tried! I love the price/quantity - 50 ml for Rs 1700 v/s other foundations like Matchmaster which is 35 ml for Rs 2100. It works for my combination/oily skin in winters as well as summers though I won’t specifically recommend this for oily skin as it does have a slightly emollient, dewy texture. If you need coverage all over your face, go for Matchmaster or Studio Fix as they offer medium-full coverage.
The shades come in series of N1,N2,N3.. and C1,C2,C3. I am between C3 and C4 but I opted for C4. It is slightly warmer than my skin tone but not orange-y and hence matches well. It just gives a nice soft warmth to my skin and in a few minutes of application, adapts to my skin.

The GOOD about MAC Face and Body Foundation :
- Plastic bottle – more durable and light weight than glass
- Light, watery texture
- Applies and blends smoothly
- Moisturizing but non-greasy
- Long wearing
- Gives a natural, glowy finish to the skin
- Photographs very well
- Good quantity/price
The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Face and Body Foundation :
- Low coverage – concealer is a MUST!
- Nozzle gets messy over time
If you love the natural, no-makeup look on your skin, MAC Face & Body would be perfect for you! It is a sheer foundation, light-weight and runny but it gives a very lovely, satiny finish to the skin and photographs very well. It may not hide blemishes/spots and under eye pigmentation hence a concealer is a MUST while using this foundation. It is moisturizing but non-greasy and wears the entire day without getting patchy. It does not contains SPF so don’t forget to wear your sunscreen in the daytime!
It is one of my favorite foundations! Highly recommended!
