Jean-Claude Biguine Salon and Spa recently opened a new branch at Mumbai and they invited me to experience their services. The Salon is located near Costa Coffee at Lokhandwala (Andheri) and offers all salon as well as Spa services.
Upon arriving at the Salon, I was greeted by the staff who gave me a small tour of the space. The decor is very tasteful and the place has a very open, airy vibe. I particularly liked the display counters for the products where colorful bottles of Kerastase and L‘Oreal hair products were on the display. Instead of linear rows of chairs, the Salon has small tables each with 4 chairs around it – giving it a very relaxed, coffee-shop like ambiance! The spa rooms are located towards the back end. Here are a few pictures of the Salon -
I decided to go for a Hair Makeover – hair cut and color.
I was offered a beverage while the Stylist Riya and I talked about the look I wanted to go for. I wanted to go for front bangs and I had a few reference pictures to show her. Since I have a very small forehead, Riya suggested I go for side swept bangs instead of straight front ones. For the color, she showed me a few options from the color chart. I wanted a reddish dark brown and Riya used INOA 4.26 and INOA 5.62 mixed together to create the shade. (These are Ammonia free and much gentler on the hair compared to Permanent hair color)
Riya started by applying the color on the roots and once the entire root area was covered, she applied the color along the lengths. While the color was on my hair (about 25 min), I browsed the latest Grazia and Marie Claire to kill the time. After 25 min, Riya took me to the other side of the salon to wash off the color. The hair wash took a while but it was really relaxing since the reclining chair had a built in massager- something I’ve not encountered before in other salons!
Once the hair wash was done, Riya started with the hair cut. Since my ends didn’t need much attention, she added a few layers around the face and the side bangs. She then blow-dried the hair (the end result is what you see in the pictures) dividing them into sections.
I love my hair so far! The color isn’t very obvious right now, I’m told it’ll lighten up in a few washes and would be more clearly visible then. As for the cut, I love it fresh from a blow dry but I hope I can style it well after a wash! Overall, I had a great experience – loved the ambiance of the place and the staff/service was excellent as well!
If you stay in Andheri or nearby, do drop by the new salon and check out their services! And if you’re going for a hair cut, do request Riya when you book your appointment!
