Revlon is one of my favorite brands when it comes to lip products! From the Colorburst lipsticks, glosses, lip butters, the classic Super Lustrous range, the creamy Matte range to the new Bitten Balm stains, each product is excellent! When I went to look for the Bitten Balm stains a few days back, I found 3 new shades in the Super Lustrous range. I picked up 2 – Red Lacquer and Cherry Blossom (worn HERE).
Price : Rs 550 for 4.2 g
My take on the Product
The lipstick comes in a classic black and gold packaging with a transparent top. I don’t find the transparent top particularly useful, I think colored labels at the bottom or colored packaging like the Colorburst lip butters would be more useful in locating shades quickly. Nevertheless, the packaging is quite sturdy, the swivel mechanism smooth and it has a vintage feel to it.
The lipstick texture is unlike the others I have tried from the Super Lustrous. It is more like the Lip butters – sheer, balm-like and very smooth and hydrating. It can be layered to get more intense color. The formula feels very comfortable and light weight on the lips. There was no bleeding or settling into lines. The initial glossy layer gets wiped off with a meal but it leaves a coral stain behind that stays for a few hours. With light meals, it lasts a good 4 hours on me with a few more hours of a coral stain. I love the translucency and buttery-ness of the formula, it gives a very fresh look to the face and keeps the lip hydrated! With layering, it gives enough coverage to even out pigmented lips.
The shade Red Lacquer is gorgeous Popsicle Orange color. The sheer texture make it very wearable and the glossy finish make it perfect for a fresh day time look. It looks lovely paired with peachy/coral blushes and I find it more flattering than creamy, opaque full on orange lipsticks. Revlon describes it as Frost finish but I can hardly detect any shimmer, its too subtle (which is always a good thing when it comes to lipsticks!). If you want to experiment with orange lips, this is quite a safe shade to try out! Its not too bright but has the freshness of bright lip color! Highly recommended!
Dupes : It is similar to Papaya from the Revlon Colorburst gloss range. Papaya is little more coral while this is more orange, Papaya is sheerer as well. Reviewed HERE.

The GOOD about Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick (Frost) Red Lacquer :
- Classic, sturdy packaging
- Smooth, buttery texture
- Comfortable and hydrating on the lips
- Buildable pigmentation
- Wearable
- Leaves a stain behind
- No bleeding
- Did not settle into fine lines
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick (Frost) Red Lacquer :
- Staying power is low
Overall Verdict
If you’re a fan of buttery, translucent formulas (like me!) – you would love this lipstick! Red Lacquer is a gorgeous Popsicle orange color that is very wearable on account of its sheer texture. The pigmentation is buildable and the hydrating formula sits very comfortably on the lips. It may not survive a 3 course meal but it does wear well with light snacks and leaves a coral stain behind. If you’re looking for a safe orange to experiment with, this is your shade!
