Hey everyone!

Today I’m reviewing a lovely product that I received in my February Vellvette Box – Figs & Rouge 100% Organic Aloe and Mint Balm.

Price : Rs 695 549  for 17 ml

Available online at vellvette.com.

What the brand says about the Product :

If you’ve been looking for a great multitasking product, voila! This one’s probably the greatest multitasking product to ever feature on the international beauty box scene – Figs & Rouge Aloe and Mint Balm. Perfect for those lips that chap and peel, cuticles that go haywire, skin that itches and burns, feet that embarrass and eyebrows that just can’t stay in shape! And best of all, it’s 100% natural, organic and petroleum free – no restrictions on how many times you can use  it!

How to use:

Carry this in your purse and let your creativity go wild! Apply on lips to hydrate them and also use as base to make your lipstick last longer – your cuticles to keep them looking tip top. Use it to hydrate dry skin on face, hands, arms or legs – will not leave your skin sticky at all. Use it at night to treat cracked or dry feet. Vellvette Secret Tip: It’s also a great eyebrow shaper – apply a tiny bit to keep the brows in shape all day long.

Ingredients :

Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Butyrospermum, Parkii Fruit Butter, Cera Alba, Mentha Piperita Leaf Oil, Aloe Barbandesis Fruit Juice, Limonene Linalool

My take on the Product

The balm comes in an attractive tin packaging with a green pattern (for the ingredients Aloe vera and Mint). I like the packaging, I think it has sweet, vintage look and is easy to carry in one’s hand bag.

The consistency of this lip balm is semi-solid and is exactly like ghee. On contact with fingers (application and rubbing), it melts and absorbs into the skin. It has a nice minty feel – faint fragrance and a cooling effect which I find quite refreshing. It doesn’t sting or tingle, just gives a slight cooling effect. It instantly softens chapped lips, dry skin, inflamed skin and I’ve been using it a lot lately. My feet were a little sore after wearing heels for too long with reddish inflammation in some areas. I used this balm continuously for 2 days on that area and my skin felt relived and soothed. I love its instant moisturizing properties and light weight feel! The only downside is that the effect is not lasting so one needs to reapply frequently. Overall, I really like the product – its super effective on dryness and irritated skin! Once I run out of this tub, I might consider repurchasing if its still available on vellvette.com.

The GOOD about Figs & Rouge Aloe vera and Mint Balm :

  1. Attractive packaging
  2. Melts on application
  3. Instantly softens and soothes the skin
  4. Refreshing mint fragrance, cooling effect
  5. Doesn’t make the skin greasy
  6. Absorbs into the skin
  7. Petroleum free, 100% organic

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Figs & Rouge Aloe vera and Mint Balm :

  1. Needs frequent reapplication, effect is short lived

Overall Verdict

Figs & Rouge Aloe vera and Mint Balm is a great instant fix for dry skin, inflamed skin and chapped lips. The thick waxy texture melts on contact with the skin, getting fully absorbed into the skin without any greasy after feel. It has a mild mint fragrance and a cooling effect which I find quite refreshing. While I love the instant soothing moisturization is gives, I wish the effect stayed longer, it needs frequent reapplication.

Rating : 4.25/5

I agree with the re applicant bit. But I find the packaging cumbersome coz sometimes the cover acts a little nasty specialy if I have moisturised hands. I still like Kiehls no.1 lip balm…

Thats true, its metallic so would slip. I find it very similar to Kiehls one though the Kiehls one keeps the lips supple for a longer time!
