My take on the Product

I was very excited to try out the next product from the brand that I was sent for review – a brightening face mask, Lumifast. Unfortunately it didn’t fare as well as first product (Avederm) for me. The mask comes in a jar packaging. Now I don’t mind dipping my fingers in the tub but what I do not like about the packaging is that the jar has a very narrow mouth. I prefer wide mouthed jars as its just easier to scoop out the product.

The mask itself has a thick, waxy texture. It has a mild fragrance which I can’t quite place but its not unpleasant. It can be applied in a thin or a thick layer. I generally go for a slightly thick layer to get maximum benefit from the mask. If applied thickly, it doesn’t quite dry up in 10 minutes and remains waxy on the skin. It needs quite a bit of water to be washed off completely.

The issue I face with this mask is that it stings my skin. Its not just mild tingling (as is to be expected according to the product description), its more than that. It continues to sting throughout the 10 minutes I apply this mask for and when I wash it off, certain areas of my face look a little red and irritated. Not a reaction strong enough to be called a rash but still, there’s a bit of redness. As far as the brightening is concerned, it does add a bit of glow to the skin. Once the redness has calmed down (typically in an hour), my skin does look a little radiant but the difference is subtle. The one thing I do like about it is that it does not dry out my skin at all. It leaves it cleansed and sufficiently moisturized so there are no dry patches on my face if I don’t moisturize immediately.

Overall, I’m not a huge fan of the product more so since I had high hopes after trying out the products from this brand. I know a lot of people like this product but it just didn’t work that well for me.

The GOOD about Cosmedic Lumifast Brightening Minute Mask :

  1.  Adds glow to the skin
  2. Doesn’t dry out the skin
  3. Full ingredient list mentioned
  4. Non-comodogenic, Oil free

The  NOT-SO-GOOD about Cosmedic Lumifast Brightening Minute Mask :

  1. Causes tingling and stinging
  2. A little difficult to wash off
  3. The effects are subtle and last only about a day
  4. Narrow mouthed jar packaging – a little inconvenient

Overall Verdict

Cosmedic Lumifast Brightening Minute Mask is a 10-minute facial that brightens up the skin. Unfortunately, it didn’t work that well for me. The formula caused some irritation and redness on my skin and once that had subsided, the glow was there but it was quite subtle. I do like the fact that it doesn’t dry out my skin but I’m a little disappointed with the product. I’m also not happy with the fact that the price has been recently increased from Rs 330 to Rs 850.

Skin care products don’t work the same for everyone. If something didn’t work for me, it won’t necessarily not work for you either and vice-versa.

Brand’s response :

Those with sensitive skin tend to be more sensitive to products with Alpha-Hydroxy Acids in them, and the winter season can make that sensitivity a bit worse. Furthermore, we advise only using a very thin layer of this mask rather than a thicker layer so that there is an even distribution of product on the face. This in fact reduces the sensation of tingling.

Alpha-Hydroxy Acids are really the most effective yet safe ingredients to use for the problems of pigmentation and dullness. We at COSMEDIC really believe in the concept of Knowing Your Skin and recognize that not everyone can have the same result as some skin types may not respond to some remedies.

Hello ladies!!!

Am using Lumifast for the last 3 months but surprisingly have never felt any stinging, a little tingling only and then it subsides, which is so normal with all face packs/masks nowadays. The skin feels bright and nice :-) )
