Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector : Review

BB creams are still quite new to the Indian market with only Maybelline, The Body Shop and Deborah Milano BB creams currently and Garnier has made quite an entry with their new BB cream. To be honest, I’m not a fan of Garnier products and I didn’t expect much from this cream but after using it for about a week now, I’m quite surprised by the fact that I quite like it!

My take on the Product

The product comes in a simple beige tube packaging. The plastic opaque packaging has a slight sheen to it, the screw on cap is transparent and the tube has a sleek look.

The cream itself is neither too runny in texture nor too thick. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin but it doesn’t feel that light weight either. It has a comfortable emollient but non-greasy texture. It blends quite easily with just a few dabs with the fingers and doesn’t get patchy and doesn’t leave a very moist after-feel after blending. Its not too great as a moisturizer, my combination winter skin needs a moisturizer before I put this on and dry skinned women will definitely need one. I wear this more like a sunscreen after I have used my moisturizer. As far as coverage is concerned, it gives very sheer coverage – the sheer tint evens out the skin tone but doesn’t cover up age spots, blemishes, acne or under eye circles. But for everyday-wear when I’m just stepping out for a bit of shopping etc., I find the coverage good enough to give a presentable look to the face. It adds a very soft glow to the skin and surprisingly wears quite well. My face looks reasonably fresh after 5-6 hours of wear too (without touch-ups). Since its pretty sheer, the single color can work for a variety of skin tones though it might look ashy on duskier beauties and too dark for pale skin. I wish they had launched more shades in India.

Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector

As an everyday wear product with sheer coverage and natural finish, I think its quite good. But calling it a miracle skin perfector would be taking it a bit too far! It doesn’t make the skin fair or smooth in texture nor does it serve the purpose of concealer, foundation. It does not reduce lines and imperfections and it definitely does not give ‘instantly perfect skin‘.

Its best described as a Tinted Moisturizer with SPF and I’d recommend it to college going girls or women who like something with very less coverage on their face. Maybelline BB cream is the only other BB cream I’ve tried and I find the coverage of the Maybelline one much better than this one.

The GOOD about Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector :

  1. Convenient, sleek packaging
  2. Easy to blend cream texture
  3. Does not make the skin greasy
  4. Sinks fully into the skin
  5. Gives light coverage – evens out the skin
  6. Stays well on the skin
  7. Does not get patchy
  8. Gives a soft glow
  9. Contains UVA/UVB protection with SPF 24
  10. Great price!

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector :

  1. Not very moisturizing
  2. Doesn’t cover up spots/pigmentation/under eye circles
  3. UVA rating is not mentioned
  4. Comes only in 1 shade

Overall Verdict

Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector is fairly easy to use Tinted Moisturizer with SPF that can be great for women who need light coverage. The texture is workable though the hydration is not sufficient for combination/dry skin. It does even out the skin and gives a soft glow which looks quite natural. The ridiculously tall claims and lack of shades are obvious downsides but apart from this, I think its a lovely product for everyday use.

Rating : 3.75/5

this bb cream, will it be suitable for super oily skin in summers? actually i am always on a hunt for a good sunscreen for summers. in winters i can use so many of them. right now using h2o plus waterwhite advanced brightening day lotion. its very good, oil free. but cant use it in summers. any recos?

one koshen plz? do you accept requests from ur readers to do a particular review? shall i drop u an email regarding this?

      January 13, 2013 / 12:35 am

Thank you Jyoti! I’m not sure if it will work for oily skin in summers, I don’t think it would honestly but maybe when topped with a good mattifying powder, it might. I personally love Lotus Herbals 3-in-1 matte SPF 40 for the summers.

You can always drop a request, if I am able to purchase the product, I’ll definitely do so and review it 🙂

I have read some good reviews about it. I saw it in health and glow this week and was wondering what’s the shade.. there was no shade name or number mentioned.. The SAs there also didn’t know anything..
Planning to get it this weekend and give a try..

  9. January 10, 2013 / 8:03 pm

I have seen so many BB creams flooding US/ UK markets in last couple of years, while i was there. they make such outrageous claims, one of them is Garnier “Miracle Skin Perfecter” !! as if i am going to apply this on my skin and it will turn into a flawless smooth and glowing skin. Yeah sure !! God has just sent me his magic potion.

i bought this from abu dhabi wen i went der for a trip..dey had two variants fair and medium..doesnt give a heavy coverage or so..just a nice dewy look..also it did not break me loving it…i think dis is a good candidate to replace my ponds tm which i miss…

    • Corallista
      January 13, 2013 / 12:42 am

Its too bad I never ended up trying the Ponds TM and it got discontinued!

  11. January 10, 2013 / 10:28 pm

Concerning BB Creams, in Cyprus, we have a limited option as well. I’ve never tried a pure Asian BB Cream, but I have recently ordered Missha’s and Etude House’s ones online.
Just like you commented, I found the western BB creams sold in my country being more of a tinted moisturiser.

    • Corallista
      January 13, 2013 / 12:43 am

Missha’s is supposed to be good. I’m hoping to try those too, I hope I can find an ebay seller who ships at a reasonable price, most sellers have atrocious shipping rates to India!

      January 13, 2013 / 12:46 am

You know I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like it but its not that bad – with the fancy claims and lack of shades aside! I actually find myself reaching out for this quite often!

    Hi Ankita,

I also want to know which one is better for Oily Skin.. Garnier / Maybelline.

Also should it be used before applying Anti-Ageing cream.

    • Corallista
      January 13, 2013 / 12:46 am

I think the Garnier one would be better for oily skin. You need to use it after applying your cream.

I’d suggest Garnier one for combination skin. Do moisturize before applying.
