What Lakme says about the Product :

  • Formulated with light reflecting pearls.
  • Extraordinary shine with a silk finish.
  • Use it dry for a soft day look and wet for a dramatic night look.
  • High-intensity pigments.
  • This pack contains a double-sided sponge applicator.

How to use for subtle day look:
With a dry brush apply the lighter shade as a base on your lids.
Follow with the dark shade above it.

How to use for dramatic night look:
With a wet brush apply the lighter shade as a base.
Next apply the darker color on the outer edges. Smudge to create an intense smoky look.

My take on the Product

The Lakme Absolute baked eye shadows come in a simple, rectangular packaging with a transparent cover. The 2 eye shadows have the typical dome shade of baked eye shadows and the packaging comes with a dual sided sponge applicator. The applicator is wide and flat on one side and narrow and long on the other. Even though we rarely use applicators that comes with the packaging, I find the narrow end quite useful for packing color in the inner corner and the crease. I like the rectilinear packaging, it can be easily stacked and stored.

The eye shadows have a silky smooth texture, lovely pigmentation and they blend with barely any effort. They can be used both wet and dry and I prefer using them wet for intense pigmentation and better wear time. They have a gorgeous soft pearl finish that reflects light and gives a beautiful shine to the eyes. Because they are baked, there can be a bit of fall out in the pan and things can get a little messy if you use a scratchy brush that kicks up product. When used dry on my oily lids, they begin to crease in about 4 hours but when used with a damp brush, I get an excellent 6-7 hours of wear time (without primer). Overall, I think these eye shadows are great but I’d expected better wear. What is very impressive though is the texture, I’ve not seen this silky softness in other Indian brands before and in this respect, Lakme has truly created a lovely product!

Night Desire contains 2 shades – a pale silverlavender and a deep violet shade. The silver-lavender shade has a more light reflective finish than the Violet, hence it works better as a highlighter. It brightens up the eyes when used in the inner corner. Since its intensely pigmented, it has to be used really lightly and blended out properly when used on the browbone. The shade might look a little ashy on very warm/dusky skin. The Violet shade is absolutely gorgeous! It is neither too pink nor too blue leaning and looks lovely against brown eyes. Overall, I’m not too fond of the silver shade (prefer gold highlighters) but I love the deep violet!

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked shadow duo :

Overall Verdict

Lakme Absolute Eye Chromatic Baked shadow duo in Night Desire consists of a pale silver-lavender shade and a deep true violet shade. the shades pair well with each other though the lighter one may be a little ashy on dusky skin. The eye shadows have a lovely formula – soft, silky texture, excellent pigmentation, beautiful pearl finish and good wear time (wet). The only real issue for me is the low wear I get on my oily lids when I use these dry. Apart from this, these are fantastic! I particularly like how the deep violet shade instantly brightens brown eyes!

Rating : 4.25/5

The colors look exactly like Avon’s eyeshadow quad. The pigmentation for this duo seems better tho’ 🙂

Hi Aditi, wet and dry eye shadows are eye shadows that can be used both dry and wet (with a damp brush). In wet state, they give more intense color and stay on longer. Most mineralize/baked ones are wet and dry type.
