Hey everyone!

Today I’m doing a tutorial for the Purple-green eye makeup look from the Lakme Absolute Monochrome Collection. This look is meant for the night time and has been created using all Lakme eye shadows. Hope you like the tutorial, don’t forget to leave your comments below!

The colors (especially the green) don’t appear as vibrant in my pictures but in person, they are a little more vivid but not as much as the promo pic. Overall, its a simple yet fabulous look, not much of blending etc. required here and the purple looks very vibrant and pretty on the eyes!

Products used for this look :

  1. Lakme Absolute White Intense concealer stick : Light to Medium
  2. Lakme Absolute Ultimate kohl
  3. Lakme Absolute eye shadow duo : Night Desire
  4. Lakme Absolute eye shadow duo : Day Queen
  5. Colorbar Lash Illusion Mascara Duo

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1 : Start with a clean, moisturized eye.

Step 2-3 : Apply the concealer directly from the stick around the eye area and blend it in using the third finger.

Step 4 : Apply black kohl on the outer 1/3rd of the lid as shown.

Step 5 : Tightline the eyes with black kohl. Smudge the kohl applied on the lid in the previous step.

Step 6 : Smudge the kohl on the outer half of the lower lash line.

Step 7 : With a moist brush, apply the Purple eye shadow from duo Night Desire all over the lid. Since its a baked eye shadow, the color will come out more intense when used with a damp brush.

Step 8 : Soften the edges of the purple applied in the previous step. Apply the Lavender-silver highlighter from the same duo in the inner corner of the eye. Apply the same on the browbone as well using a very light hand.

Step 9 : Apply the light frosty green eye shadow from duo Day Queen along the lower lash line.

Step 10 : Line the upper lash line thickly with the Absolute kohl.

Step 11 : Blend the purple in the crease a little more till its soft. Finish the look with a coat of mascara! I didn’t have the Absolute mascara with me so I’ve used Colorbar mascara.

Don’t forget to fill your brows after the foundation is done! You will notice that adding some black kohl in the first steps in the outer area of the eye gives this look the slight smokey quality especially along the lower lash line. I think this is a great look for a party and I’ll be wearing this next time I have an evening event to attend!

Products used for the face :

  1. Lakme Absolute White intense cover foundation : 03 Golden Medium
  2. Lakme Absolute Wet and dry compact
  3. Lakme Absolute Moon lit highlighter
  4. Lakme Absolute blush : Night Sparkle

I ended up over bronzing and highlighting with this look which is why my face looks a tad *greasy* in the pictures! I was using the Moon lit highlighter for the first time and didn’t realize how pigmented the shades were! The blush has some sparkle as well and is very pigmented again. If you’re using any of these products, start with a very light hand to avoid looking over done (like me here!).

Products used for the lips :

  1. Lakme Aquashine lip color : Fig

Kareena is wearing a very pale pink but I need something with more color for a natural look. I opted for Lakme Aquashine Fig which is a fabulous dusty peachy-pink for my skin, it looks natural and doesn’t wash me out.

The only problem is perhaps the absolute products look too whitish in flash photography.

I guess its the SPF! Most foundations with SPF look whitish in flash.

Hi I am a follower of your blog on facebook, nice look like Kareena but I wish you had kept your lips as nude as Kareena’s. Never the less, the tutorial is fantastic!

Kareena’s lip is too pale, I look completely washed out in pale pinks!

Hi Ankita… I must say a nice try and came out really well. However, I feel that, you could have used used more lighter and vibrant green under the eyes. It’s just my opinion.

Thanks for your feedback Eesha! I just went ahead with the same shades from Lakme that have been used for this look, guess it looks more vibrant on her skin or maybe the promo shots are edited.

your look is much more wearable than kareena’s………m definitely gonna try this………i have a query ankita……..my arms r very pigmented and they are much more darker than my face which looks quite odd…do u have any remedy to improve the skin tone of my arm?

Reply
Corallista said on 03-12-2012

Thanks Sukanya!

You could try some kind of home made pack with Dahi, lemon and maybe besan or plain old ubtan. The curd will lighten tan and lemon lightens skin too. Ubtan aLways works! Also make sure to use a sunscreen everyday on your arms too.
