My take on the Product

Revlon Colorburst lip butters come in a colorful packaging with a silver tube and a colored plastic cap which has the same pattern as the Colorburst lipsticks. I like the fact that caps are colored, it makes it very easy to identify and locate shades if you own more than one. But the one thing that I absolutely dislike about this packaging is that the cap is too long and the black base which you hold to open the product hardly has any room for hold. This makes it a little difficult to open which can be very annoying.

The product itself is buttery soft and glides like butter on the lips. The texture is absolutely delightful to use! The shade Candy Apple is one of brightest shades of this range with a medium coverage lipstick-like pigmentation and a lovely glossy finish. I love the juicy finish of this product, it gives that luscious, healthy look to the lips that I always crave for in my lip products. It is very hydrating, I could feel that on the lips right from the first application. When the color wore off, my lips felt plumped and healthy. The unexfoliated dry bits on the lips had softened and came off easily giving absolutely smooth and hydrated lips.  I absolutely love the cushion-y gel like feel of the formula – its feels so comfortable and luxurious on the lips.

Candy Apple is warm coral-red with a lovely glistening finish and no shimmer. I love reds and this one is one of the brightest shade from the Colorburst lip butter range.  The color is mildly staining and stays for a good 4 hours though the glossiness fades after 2 hours or with meals.  I’d definitely recommend this shade for those who like bright shades especially reds! It has the punch of a bright lip color without looking over the top bright!

It has a very faint vanilla fragrance which is only detectable when you sniff the tube directly. I don’t detect any scent when I actually apply it on  my lips.

Is it worth Rs 600 ?

If I had not known the price it retailed for abroad, I would have said Hell Yes! But knowing the fact that these sell for $7-$8 in the US, I still think these are really good. I don’t think these can be compared to tinted lip balms. The tint, hydration and staying power offered by these lip butters is much superior to say what you would get from Nivea fruity shine lip balm. These actually remind me of high end sheer lipsticks like Clarins Joli Rouge and Shiseido Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer lipsticks.

Having said that, I still feel they are expensive because you get only 2.55 g of product which would get used up very quickly considering these are sheer+buttery and would need reapplication.

The GOOD about Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Candy Apple :

  1. Colored packaging – makes shades easy to locate
  2. Soft buttery texture
  3. Good pigmentation
  4. Luxurious, hydrating feel
  5. Makes lips soft and smooth
  6. Decent staying power
  7. Diminishes fine lines of the lips
  8. Gives a plumped, juicy look
  9. Very faint scent, taste-free

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Candy Apple :

  1. Packaging can be difficult to open ; may loosen up over time
  2. Overpriced in India compared to prices elsewhere

Overall Verdict

Candy Apple is a gorgeous bright coral red shade with no shimmer or glitter. The color gives a beautiful juicy red color the lips, is slightly staining and hence wears well.  Superb hydration, lovely buttery texture and the glossy shine makes this wearable and a delight to use! Even though these are priced much higher in India compared to other countries, I still think these are worth a try!

Rating : 4.5/5 (-0.25 for the high price tag, -0.25 for the packaging)

Available at Revlon counters at Lifestyle stores across India.

I bought red velvet & lollipop from this range. Btw, is it very similar with maybelline fruit punch?

Red Velvet is gorgeous for the winters! Maybelline Fruit Punch in distincly pink while Candy Apple has no pink, its a very warm red – they are very different from each other!

I have three of these as well :P Checked out Cherry Tart on your recco and am loving it! I know you don’t like nude/mlbb shades too much but Pink Truffle is a lovely shade as well.l

I have seen Pink Truffle online and I do like it! I don’t remember it seeing on the counter though when I bought the others, will pick it up next time I head to the Revlon counter! Thanks for recommendation Rini!
