Today I’m reviewing a foundation I’ve been loving lately – the Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover in shade 03 Golden Medium.

What Lakme says about the Product :
This ultra light, oil-free, water based formula delivers naturally fair, breathable skin. Its weightless formulation hides pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone to leave skin peachy soft all through the day. It lasts up to 16 hours without fading and has Vitamin B3 and sun protection of SPF 25.
My take on the Product
Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover Foundation comes in a pump tube steel-grey packaging. I love the metallic bottle and the false bottom design – it is very different from the usual foundation packaging though one cannot tell how much product is left inside since its not a see-through bottle. The bottle contains only 15 ml of product which is the lowest I have seen in a foundation and that makes the product quite expensive for a Lakme product. The bottle feels very light weight because of the less quantity and its quite sturdy for travel.
The texture of the foundation is light and neither too runny, nor too thick. It spreads and blends quite easily though it doesn’t have the slippery smoothness of the Mattreal Mousse from the same range. The foundation is not too rich or emollient in texture so women with dry/combination skin would need to ensure that their skin is moisturized before they use this product. However, even when applied on mildly dry skin, it doesn’t get patchy or uneven and just blends seamlessly. I have used this with fingers and with a sponge and I feel fingers work best with this foundation, the warmth of the fingers aids the blending.
The coverage is medium to full. It doesn’t give the kind of full coverage that Clinique Anti-blemish solutions gives but its sufficiently good to cover up my under eye pigmentation as well as my blemishes. The finish is very natural matte (similar to Mattreal Mousse) which is why I think women with normal to oily skin would like this foundation more. It holds up quite well under hot, humid conditions so that makes it excellent for the Indian weather conditions. Just like the Mattreal Mousse, it minimizes imperfections like pores etc. to give smoother, more flawless looking skin. It doesn’t settle into lines/pores of the skin that many more expensive foundations do some times. It gives a very soft, natural glow to the skin while still having a matte finish which is one of my favorite things about this foundation.
Even though it gives good coverage, it does not look heavy or cakey. The finish remains the same for a long time. It doesn’t oxidize on my skin and even after 4-5 hour of wear, there is barely any shine on my T-Zone. I’ve worn this for over 10 hours and my skin was quite fresh and luminous after all that time. I was only required to blot my T-zone twice during this time. Another great thing about this foundation is that it doesn’t look ashy in pictures – so brides-to-be might want to check this one out. It also contains SPF 25.
One of the biggest drawbacks is the limited shade range. It has only 3 shades and I wear the medium shade – 03 Golden Medium which matches very well with my skin. I think everyone may not find their perfect match, even though the Lakme Absolute foundations have a tendency to adapt to the skin tone.
On all counts, I think this is a brilliant foundation. Some of the smaller issues that might bother some people is the small quantity, the missing ingredient list and perhaps the citrus-y scent which doesn’t bother me but might not be liked by everyone.
The GOOD about Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover Foundation :
- Attractive, hygienic packaging
- Workable texture/consistency
- Blends easily
- Doesn’t get patchy/uneven
- Gives a natural matte finish
- Minimizes imperfections – gives smoother looking skin
- Medium to full coverage
- SPF 25
- Long stay
- Suits all skin types
- Does not oxidize
- Photographs well
- Holds up well under heat/humidity
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover Foundation :
- Less quantity
- Missing Ingredient list
- Limited shade range
- Citrus-y fragrance, may be liked by everyone
Lakme Absolute White Intense Skin Cover Foundation is a medium-full coverage foundation with a natural matte finish. The foundation is easy to blend, gives a smooth flawless finish and is quite long wearing. Though it will naturally suit normal-oily skin more, dry/combination skinned women will face no problems as long as they moisturize before application. I personally love the finish and wear time of this foundation, would highly recommend this!
