What L’occitane en Provence says about the Product :
Enriched with softening Peony extract, these 2 satiny eyeshadows can be used according to your desires, to brighten the eyelids with touches of radiant and contrasting colours. Using the 2 sides of the applicator, the light shade highlights the eyelid while the darker shade can be used to give definition or intensity to the eyes.
Mix the 2 shades on the back of your hand, a third unexpected colour appears, enlarging the palette of colours!
Dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested.
My take on the Product
L’occitane Pivioine Flora eye shadow duo comes in a beautiful stiff cardboard compact packaging with a mirror on the lid and a dual ended applicator. The applicator has a brush on one side and a sponge tip applicator on the other side. The eye shadow s are places in semi-circular shaped pans with the applicator housed in between. I love the cream and floral design of the packaging. The use of the eye shadow colors in the outer packaging makes it easy to locate in case you own more duos. Its a nice idea to provide 2 different applicators but they are really tiny and thus aren’t of much use though can come in handy for emergency touch ups.
The texture of the eye shadows is buttery soft, almost to the point of being powdery. So to prevent fall out in the pan, one needs to be gentle with the applicators. The pigmentation is not too intense so one can easily decide how intensely to wear the shades. Because of the super smooth texture, the eye shadows blended effortlessly and stayed for around 6 hours on my oily lids (without primer) before they started creasing/fading. I personally prefer more intense, longer lasting eye shadows but I won’t say I was disappointed with these. For someone who likes softer pigmentation and understated looks, these would be perfect!
The pink shade in this duo looks like a warm rose pink with a golden sheen in the pan but applies much lighter on my skin. I think this shade would be more flattering on cooler/fairer complexions. On warm/dusky complexions, it might well as a highlighter but used alone, it would look too ashy.
The green shade in the duo is a muted olive green with a soft golden shimmer. The shimmer is very very subtle and only gives a slight glistening quality to the eye shadow. This shade would work for a lot of skin tones and I personally liked this shade a lot. I used this shade to create a soft smokey eye and I loved the end result. So if you’d like to experiment with colored eye shadow but don’t want to jump in with very vibrant/bright colors, a muted green like this would be a great pick!
The pink-green pair is an unlikely one but I think they can work together without clashing. I tried to create a third eye shadow by mixing the 2 on the back of my hand and the end result was a soft grey which again would look great for a soft smokey eye.
On mixing the 2 shades :
EOTD : Dark green shade applied along lash line, blended out with the pink shade. Dark green along lower lash line, pink in the inner corner.
The GOOD about L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Duo Eyeshadow :
- Attractive packaging
- Soft, buttery smooth texture
- Good, buildable pigmentation
- Decent staying power
- Shades can be mixed to give a 3rd shade
- Blend easily
- ophthalmologically tested
The NOT-SO-GOOD about L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Duo Eyeshadow :
- Powdery texture (too soft)
- Staying power could be better
- Pigmentation is not too intense (could be a + for some)
L’occitane en Provence Pivoine Flora Duo Eyeshadow is Rose Tutu contains a soft pearly pink and a muted olive green housed in a pretty packaging. The pair is an unlikely one but works well together without clashing. The eye shadows are buttery soft in texture, have a buildable pigmentation and wear fairly well for a good 6 hours. It a nice duo for those who like understated eye makeup.
