My take on the Product

Revlon Colorburst lip butters come in a colorful packaging with a silver tube and a colored plastic cap which has the same pattern as the Colorburst lipsticks. I like the fact that caps are colored, it makes it very easy to identify and locate shades if you own more than one. But the one thing that I absolutely hate about this packaging is that the cap is too long and the black base which you hold to open the product hardly has any room for hold. This makes it a little difficult to open which can be very annoying.

The product itself is buttery soft and glides like butter on the lips. The texture is absolutely delightful to use! The shade Raspberry Pie is perhaps the most pigmented shade of the range, with lipstick-like pigmentation and a lovely glossy finish. I love the juicy finish of this product, it gives that luscious, healthy look to the lips that I always crave for in my lip products. It is very hydrating, I could feel that on the lips right from the first application. When the color wore off, my lips felt plumped and healthy. The unexfoliated dry bits on the lips had softened and came off easily giving absolutely smooth and hydrated lips.  I absolutely love the cushion-y gel like feel of the formula – its feels so comfortable and luxurious on the lips.

Raspberry Pie is fuchsia-berry shade, similar to a few lipsticks I own and looks just stunning on the lips! I love berry pinks, brighter the better and with its glistening finish and moisturization, it beats all the similar lipsticks I have. The shade reminds me of Maybelline Colorsensational Jewels Berry Brilliant and Fuchsia Crystal – its like a cross between the two. But the Colorburst formula is way better! The color is staining and hence stays for a good 5 hours at least though the glossiness fades after 2 hours or with meals.  I’d definitely recommend this shade for dusky/tanned skin!

It has a very faint vanilla fragrance which is only detectable when you sniff the tube directly. I don’t detect any scent when I actually apply it on  my lips.

Is it worth Rs 600 ?

If I had not known the price it retailed for abroad, I would have said Hell Yes! But knowing the fact that these sell for $7-$8 in the US, I still think these are really good. I don’t think these can be compared to tinted lip balms. The tinthydration and staying power offered by these lip butters is much superior to say what you would get from Nivea fruity shine lip balm. These actually remind me of high end sheer lipsticks like Clarins Joli Rouge andShiseido Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer lipsticks.

Having said that, I still feel they are expensive because you get only 2.55 g of product which would get used up very quickly considering these are sheer+buttery and would need reapplication.

  1. Colored packaging – makes shades easy to locate
  2. Soft buttery texture
  3. Good pigmentation
  4. Luxurious, hydrating feel
  5. Makes lips soft and smooth
  6. Good staying power
  7. Non-gritty shimmer
  8. Diminishes fine lines of the lips
  9. Gives a plumped, juicy look
  10. Very faint scent, taste-free

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Raspberry Pie :

  1. Packaging can be difficult to open ; may loosen up over time
  2. Overpriced in India compared to prices elsewhere

Overall Verdict

Raspberry Pie is a lovely fuchsia-berry shade with no shimmer or glitter. The color gives a beautiful juicy deep pink color the lips, is slightly staining and hence wears well.  Superb hydration, lovely buttery texture and the glossy shine makes this wearable and a delight to use! Even though these are priced much higher in India compared to other countries, I still think these are worth a try!

Rating : 4.5/5 (-0.25 for the high price tag, -0.25 for the packaging)

Available at Revlon counters at Lifestyle stores across India.

  1. Love this color on you! I am not too fond of the colors I picked up (Peach Parfait is such a glittery mess), but I keep seeing colors that I like, so I might give these another try!

    1. Thanks Sunny! Even though they are overpriced in India, I love these! I’m definitely going back for Candy Apple and Red Velvet!

  2. Where should I begin… the color looks so pretty (is it really that pigmented??), your hair look fabulous and your eyes gorgeous 🙂

I have slightly pigmented lips, any suggestions, which lip butter should i go for?

    1. Yes it is that pigmented! For you I’d suggest Red Velvet, Candy apple (if you like orangey-reds), Cherry Tart and Raspberry Pie – these are the most pigmented ones from this range.

  3. I had asked my hubby to get me this shade from US but it was unavailable in the walmart next to his hotel..am so glad that these are launched in India and I can get it..wish the price dint hurt so much

    1. I wish it was cheaper too. I tried to get these through some relatives too few months back but all shades I wanted were out of stock!

I’m just glad that I love the 2 shades I got now so the it doesn’t feel like a waste!

  5. Guess what I just went shopping for revlon lip butter today . After reading your review on the cherry tart color, I badly wanted to buy the same . But I was overwhelmed with the collection and I ended up buying 2 colors, cherry tart and tutie frutie (orangish pink color).

  6. I was waiting for your review on this particular shade…and it looks awesome on you….
its such a pretty pink…price is a con…but will try this one for sure.

  7. Stunning shade and a great look Ankita…. I own pink truffle and loving the semi nude shade. I’m little hesitant to try a dark shade but will do it soon from this range 🙂

  8. Hey, I asked my hubby to bring this one for me from US after reading this review and m just loving it so much. It’s super amazing, the texture, the color, the fragrance, everything 🙂 He got it for $7 and there was a deal that if you buy 1 you get another for half the price so he got revlon colorburst sweet tart as well for me along with this one. I personally found sweet tart to be a very bubbly pinkish color and it would look better on fair skinned women but raspberry pie is just amazing… 🙂
