Today I’m reviewing a shimmery peachy pink lipstick from Bourjois ~ Rouge Clubbing lipstick in shade no. 63 Rose Sensuel.
Price : Rs 520 for 3 g
My take on the Product
The Rouge Clubbing lipstick comes in a stout navy packaging with a mirror on the top and the label at the base. The packaging is not as attractive as the Bourjois Sweet Kiss lipsticks which look absolutely beautiful. The mirror on the top is handy for touch ups in case of emergencies when you’re not carrying a compact with you.
The lipstick texture was quite stiff when I swatched it for the first time, so much so that I applied a little too much pressure and the bullet broke at the base. Since then I’ve been using it with a lip brush and I don’t find the texture stiff but its not super creamy either. It is a sheer lipstick but the coverage can be built up by applying another layer of product. It contains a good amount of shimmer which an linger around after the lipstick has faded but doesn’t feel too gritty or harsh on the lips. The lipstick has a creamy finish and is mildly hydrating. This particular shade wore about 5 hours on me including light meals in between which is fairly good for a light shade. Overall, I’m not quite pleased with the formula, the heavy dose of shimmer is the major drawback for me even though I like the base color.
It has a very faint fruit scent, only discernible if you sniff the tube itself so should not be a problem for anyone.
The shade Rose Sensuel is a dusty peachy pink shade with loads of multi-colored shimmer. Surprisingly I did not notice the shimmer when I swatched the tester which basically had a very tiny amount of product left in the tube, the SA had to scoop it out using a brush and what I saw was a lovely dusty peach with a bit of pink with barely any shimmer. I think the shade would have been stunning with lesser shimmer, it overpowers the color as it fades and by the time the color is worn off, its mostly shimmer left which does not look pretty!
The GOOD about Bourjois Paris Rouge Clubbing 63 Rose Sensuel :
- Feels smooth and creamy (Except for the first use)
- Doesn’t highlight lip lines/dryness
- Good wear time
- Faint fruity scent (may be a con for some)
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Paris Rouge Clubbing 63 Rose Sensuel :
- Broke at its base in first application
- Way too shimmery (For my taste)
- Shimmer is left behind as color wears off
- Dull, unattractive packaging
- Sheer – may not cover pigmented lips
I bought this shade with really high hopes but I’m disappointed with this product. The packaging is dull, the bullet broke on first use and the shimmer is really overpowering. Even though it wears well and doesn’t highlight lip lines/flakes despite being shimmery, I don’t like the look of it on my lips. I can only recommend it to someone looking for a shimmery party lipstick.
