Today I’m reviewing a stunning shade from the L’Oreal Paris Infallible lipstick range ~ Intensely Mauve.
Price : Rs 900
What L’oreal Paris says about the product :
L’Oréal Paris introduces Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick for luxurious, comfortable, and long lasting lip color. Infallible offers up to 10 hours of vivid-high definition color and shine, while hydrating vitamin E keeps your lips moist and comfortable, this makes Infallible the ultimate beauty indulgence. Discover a true colour payoff in a creamy, conditioning base that applies evenly without flaking or fading.
The new Infallible Le Rouge formula is based on L’Oréal’s Colour Bond Technology that features a flexible network that captures and fixes colour on lips. This is made possible by an association of adhesive polymers that allows for the longevity of the lipcolour, as well as sillicon micro spheres that ensure only the richest lipcolour will be left on a woman’s lips.
My take on the product
L’oreal Paris Infallible lipsticks come in silver and transparent packaging that is sturdy and travel friendly. The cover closes with a tight click so there is no issue of it coming off during travel. One end of the packaging contains a colored label so does the cover of the lipstick which makes it quite easy to identify shades. The packaging feels heavy, just like most luxury brand lipsticks and that makes it feel expensive but I wish the packaging was a little more attractive. I personally love the golden packaging of the Color riche range and the pink and silver one of the Nutrishine range more!
The texture of this lipstick is smooth and creamy though it is not *buttery* smooth. It glides well on the lips without any tugging. It is very pigmented and gives true color in single swipe. Even though it is a long lasting lipstick, I really like the fact that is doesn’t feel matte and dry on application. The finish on the lips is semi-matte and retains a hint of creaminess. The lipstick performs extremely well when applied on moisturized lips. The lipstick does not stain the lips, it does not flake off the lips like other long stay lipsticks and does not make the lips overly dry. Intensely Mauve easily stays for 6-7 hours on my lips with light meals/snacks in between.
Most long stay lipsticks come with the added discomfort of being stretchy and sticky on the lips but this lipstick feels quite comfortable! I did feel a bit of dryness and discomfort though after about 4 hours of wear since I have dry lips but a bit of clear balm can take care of that. A lot of lipstick stay on long because the pigment stains the lips which then changes color after long wear time but these lipsticks are non-staining and the staying power is due to the lipstick formula adhering to the lips. As a result the color doesn’t really change over the course of time as it wears, it just fades off uniformly.
However, if applied on absolutely dry or unmoisturized lips, it tends to cling to the dry flaky areas of the lips and the lips uncomfortably dry after few hours of wear. I would advise everyone especially those with dry lips to moisturize before applying lipsticks, long stay formulas just don’t sit well on dry lips!
Overall, I find the formula excellent albeit a little drying on my dry lips. I love how long and uniformly the color stays on my lips without feeling overly uncomfortable or flaking off!
The shade Intensely Mauve is the prettiest shade from this range for me. It is a dusty plum–pink with very subtle pearl that gives some shine to the lips without looking shimmery or frosty. I am generally not a fan of pearl or frost in lip colors but this formula has been done exceptionally well. As you can see in the FOTD, the pearl gives a soft, almost wet looking shine to the lips which chunkier frost or glitter never achieve. So for once, I can say I like the pearl finish in a lip color! The shade is absolutely gorgeous and would suit a lot of skin tones. I find purples a little difficult to carry but the heavy dose of pink along with a hint of brown makes this shade super flattering and very easy to wear! It would make a lovely pink for duskier beauties especially.
I would recommend this shade to everyone!

- The shade is versatile and would suit many complexions
The NOT-SO-GOOD about L’oreal Paris Infallible Le Rouge lipstick Intensely Mauve :
- Need to moisturize before application
- Packaging could have been more attractive (comparing with other L’oreal lipstick ranges!)
Here’s how the lipstick looks on me :
L’oreal Paris Infallible lipsticks are creamy and pigmented long stay lipsticks that are comfortable on the lips and deliver long staying power. The lipstick applies with a creamy semi-matte finish, the formula is excellent though it can be a little drying after a few hours. When applied on moisturized lips, these stay on well for a good 6 hours at least without making the lips dry or uncomfortable. The shade Intensely Mauve is a gorgeous dusty plum-pink that would flatter many skin tones and make a lovely everyday wear shade for Indian complexions. Highly recommended!
