The rain has finally cleared out after the very rainy Monday and today, for the MAC Tuesday feature, I have a pretty coral lipstick for you from Cremesheen lipstick in Crosswires!
Price : Rs 990 ($15 USD)
My take on the Product
MAC Lipstick in Crosswires comes in the signature black MAC Packaging with a label at the base of the packaging. MAC lipsticks contain 3 g of product which definitely make them an expensive buy.
The Formula :
The Cremesheen formula applies with medium coverage in a single swipe which be built up to a stronger intensity in another swipe. The texture is soft, smooth and creamy. Cremesheen lipsticks like Crosswires look and feel light on the lips lacking the intense finish and pigmentation of matte/satin/amplified creme formula. This makes them perfect for everyday wear. While the color does not bleed or feather as it wears, it does get a little bit patchy after meals. However, the biggest drawback of the Cremesheen formula for me is that it is slightly drying on the lips. One cannot apply this over dry or flaky lips as it will enhance every bit of dryness when applied that way. One needs exfoliated and moisturized lips while using Crosswires. It has a decent enough wear time, it stays about 4 hours on me and a little longer if don’t have snacks in between. What I like though about it is the soft sheen that the finish has, its not exactly creamy or overtly glossy but just softly glossy.
Overall, I’d recommend this more for its shade than the formula.
The shade :
Crosswires is described as a clean, pinky orange by MAC. Its a beautiful coral shade that may look more pink or orange depending one’s skin tone. On me, it look more of a coral pink but on duskier/warmer skin tones, it looks more leaning towards orange. It is the perfect shade for summer – the color is soft and the finish is not heavy. It is neither too pink, nor too orange and just gives a soft glow to the face when you apply it. Because of its mid-tone color and warmth, this shade will suit many people. I think its a lovely shade, very fresh and youthful and if you’re looking for the perfect coral, do check this out!
Swatches in different lighting :
The GOOD about MAC Cremesheen lipstick Crosswires :
- Classy, black MAC Packaging
- Soft, smooth texture
- Glides easily on the lips with no tugging
- Creamy finish, gives a healthy look to the lips
- Light on the lips – in look and feel
- Decent wear time
The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Cremesheen lipstick Crosswires :
- Can be a little drying
- Need to moisturize and exfoliate before applying
How it looks on me :
MAC Cremesheen lipstick Crosswires is a beautiful shade that one cannot pass by without a second glance. Its a soft coral with a medium coverage, slightly glossy finish that looks youthful, fresh and perfect for the warm season. The formula is good but not the best – I find it slightly drying and it can be unforgiving on dry/flaky lips. However, the shade is absolutely lovely and if you’re looking for the perfect coral, do check this out!
