Faces Nail Enamel Siberian Nights : Review, NOTD

I’m not one for blue nails really but when I saw this nail paint at the Faces counter, I conjured up an image of glossy iridescent midnight blue, like the gorgeous L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow All Night Blue. Sadly, this nail enamel from Faces turned out nothing like that! Read on to know why..

Price : Rs 199

My take on the Product

I haven’t tried any nail enamels from Faces before so I don’t know if this is the quality of the product the entire range. But if it is, I’m definitely not picking up another shade! The nail paint has a slightly thin consistency and one would need a minimum of 2 coats for near opaque coverage though I applied 3 for fully opaque coverage. It dries fairly quickly but the finish is rather dull – not creamy/glossy/metallic  but just somewhere in between. It looks glossy when freshly applied but within a few hours, it degenerates to a dull finish. I added a clear top coat and that added some glossiness to it. With 3 coats of nail paint and 1 top coat, I had expected this to not chip too soon but I began seeing wear at the nail tip from the second day itself.  At Rs 199, it definitely does not deliver. I would rather pick up Lakme, Revlon or Colorbar nail paints for lesser price and get much better quality!

The shade Siberian Nights in a deep cerulean blue with a slight metallic sheen. Few hours after application, the finish gets  rather dull and looks neither metallic nor glossy or matte. It looks much darker in the bottle and thats how I had envisioned the shade to be when I bought it. I think the shade would have looked lovely if only the finish was more refined and long wearing!

The GOOD about Faces Nail Enamel Siberian Nights :

  1. Dries fast
  2. Decent brush
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Faces Nail Enamel Siberian Nights :
  1. Needs 3 coats for full opaque coverage
  2. Streaky finish
  3. Finish gets dull very quickly
  4. Begins to chip after a day even with 3 coats and a top coat
  5. Overpriced for the quality

Overall Verdict

Faces Nail Enamel in Siberian Nights is a deep cerulean blue with fine metallic shimmer. It needs 2-3 coats for opacity but even with that, it begins to chip in a day itself. The finish is neither completely matte nor glossy or matte. While it does have some redeeming qualities like quick drying time, it wears poorly and the finish is streaky and tacky. I would not recommend this!

Somehow i didn’t like the color also, it looks way too inky.
Faces product are either completely out of this world or completely horrendous. I just picked one of their lipsticks recently which is from the range “Rouge A Levres Lapiz Labial”, it is a nude frosty shade and I’m finding the lipstick a complete disaster. It doesn’t have any smooth finish at all and the factor that I’m hating is that it smells like some cheap cosmetic, even though it’s not that cheap. It costs 249 bucks and I recently bought ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick Pretty Please in the same price range and I’m totally loving it.

Too bad. I picked up 3 colours at 199 each, and while the colours were nice, the finish was really disappointing. The lotus ones are so much better.
