Hey everyone!

I hope the new week is treating you well. I had a fun but busy weekend as it was my graduation ceremony. Thank you to everyone who sent their lovely wishes :) I will be doing a post on my look on Graduation Day soon.

Today I’m reviewing a gorgeous blush from NARS which I’d shown you HERE in my Strawberrynet.com haul post. This blush is a gorgeous dusty rose shade called Dolce Vita which has a cult following of its own just like many of NARS’s iconic blushes!

Price : $28 (I picked it up for Rs 1800 from strawberrynet.com)

What NARS says about their blushes :

The ultimate authority in blush, NARS offers the industry’s most iconic shades for cheeks. Natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush.
* Silky texture in matte and shimmering shades

* Micronized powder ensures soft, blendable application

* Iconic NARS shades

My take on the Product

NARS Blushes hardly need any introduction. They are well known for their superb quality and iconic shades. When I think NARS, I think blush so when I picked up my first NARS product from Strawberrynet.com, needless to say, it was a blush!

NARS products come in a black sleek packaging with the brand name emboldened across the packaging. While the packaging looks classy and sleek, I face the problem that almost everyone else does and that is of the outer rubberized finish which tends to attract and retain fingerprints, dust etc. When you have an expensive product such as this, you want it to look new all the time so this is a bit of a drawback! The blush is in a rectangular pan inside and the underside of the lid comes with a good sized mirror. It does not contain an applicator.

The texture of the blush is smooth and velvety. It is not powdery and there was no powdery dust when I swiped the brush across the blush surface. What is absolute remarkable about this blush is the Pigmentation. It is absolutely the most pigmented blush I have ever tried out. You just need to graze the tip of the brush on the surface and that gives enough color! If you swipe the brush across, you are sure to end up clown cheeks! It blended sufficiently well though I won’t say effortlessly, I did need to spend a few seconds buffing the edges since its a really pigmented blush. It wore well for over 6 hours though by hour 7, I did see a bit of fading though the color did not disappear from my cheeks until hour 8. Overall, the quality is great though I was hoping for maybe an hour more of wear on my cheeks.

Dolce Vita is described by NARS as a matte dusty rose and I couldn’t agree more. The medley of deep rosy pink and earth tone makes a beautiful blush especially for medium-to-dusky skin. For Indian skin tones, this is definitely a very natural shade and one that would pair well with almost any lip color. Its not a brightening blush but it does add life to the face and has an understated elegance which is why I picked this shade for my Mum who likes more subtle shades. It looks darker in the pan but the rose tones spring to life on the cheeks more than the brown (on me. May differ on different skin tones). The matte finish pairs beautifully with the shade and makes this perfect for work/day wear. If you’re my skin tone or deeper or someone who prefers very natural, subtle blushes, this is one shade to keep in mind next time you’re shopping for a blush!

The GOOD about NARS Powder Blush Dolce Vita :

  1. Sleek, compact packaging
  2. Smooth, velvety texture
  3. Great pigmentation
  4. Blends well
  5. No patchiness, uneven-ness on fading
  6. Wears well for 7-8 hours
  7. Versatile, wearable shade
  8. Matte finish

The NOT-SO-GOOD about NARS Powder Blush Dolce Vita :

  1. Expensive, unavailable in India
  2. Very pigmented, needs very light application and a little blending

Overall Verdict

NARS Blushes come in a sleek black compact packaging with a matte rubberized finish and a mirror inside. The blush powder is finely milled, smooth in texture, very pigmented and stays on well! Dolce Vita is a beautiful matte dusty rose shade that looks exceptionally lovely on medium/dusky skin. Highly recommended!

Rating : 4.5/5
