Step-by-Step Tutorial :

Step 1 : Start by lining the eye using a black/brown gel liner. I have used a blackish brown shade from Bobbi Brown. You can use a black if you want a more dramatic look and brown if you want a softer look. Beginners should go with brown.

Step 2 : Apply the liner thickly as shown.

Step 3 : Before it dries it up completely, smudge the gel liner over the entire lid as shown. You can use just about any brush to do, neatness is not important here as we will be covering up the lid with eye shadows in the next steps. This just acts as a base for the eye shadows and gives a soft smokey effect.

Step 4 : Apply any highlighter in the inner corner, tear duct and take it in to cover inner 1/3rd of the lid as shown. Use any highlighter that looks natural against your skin tone. I have used MAC Pigment in Naked.

Step 5 : Now take a jeweled purple eye shadow and apply in the center of the lid leaving a small area near the outer corner.

Step 6 : Apply a bronzed brown eye shadow in the outer corner and outer 1/3rd of the socket (Crease) as shwon.

Step 7 : Start blending the brown eye shadow applied in the previous step by running the blending blush back and forth in the crease using very little pressure (Wind-wiper motion).

Step 8 : Blend the purple with the highlighter in the inner half of the lid and with the brown on the outer half of the lid using very soft strokes of a blending brush.

Step 9 : Line upper lash line and outer half of the waterline with black/brown gel liner. When the gel liner is partially dry, run the brush softly over it to soften it a little. This will not give a harsh line and make the look more wearable.

Step 10 : Using the same brown eye shadow used for the crease, apply just to the outer corner of the lower lash line and blend inwards. This is only to add some shadow and depth in the outer corner of the eye.

Step 11 : Curl and comb eye lashes, finish off with 2 coats of mascara. Use highlighter on the brow bone if you like, I have skipped it.

Clean up any fall out, apply concealer and foundation. Set with powder and then fill in the brows.

Products used for the FACE :

  1. L’Oreal True Match foundation : W3 Golden Beige
  2. Clinique blended face powder : 03
  3. The Body Shop cheek color : 05 Tea Rose

Some of you had requested a wearable purple look so to create a soft yet colorful look, I’ve used brown eye shadow to tone down the purple and a softer colored liner instead of a stark black! I hope you liked it, let me know your comments below!

I did a similar look recently, but I used NYX Milan lipstick and NYX MegaShine Gloss in Plum, instead of a coral lip color. It came out pretty nice. :)

You just reminded me that I own Caviar Ink and I need to swatch it soon.

Hey Ankita…great review AND look! Where can I get Bobbi Brown long-wear gel liner from? And if I don’t; what could i Substitute it with?

Hi Priya, Bobbi Brown long wear gel liner is not available in India. You can either use a black gel liner or brown gel liner depending on what kind of effect you want. you can try Maybelline or Loreal gel liners.
