I’m so glad all of you enjoyed my coverage of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter-Festive 2012 Hair and Makeup! Lakme Fashion Week sets the trend for not just clothing but beauty as well. Here are the Top 5 Makeup Trends from the looks created by makeup artists Clint Fernandes and Kapil Bhalla for the different shows. I have picked out the looks that are wearable, easy to create and made an appearance several times during the Fashion Week!

1. Goddess eyes : Smokey Winged liner
The Smokey liner made an appearance perhaps the maximum times! Eyes were lined thickly with liner and the edges softened with black eye shadow to give a sultry smokey look. In some of the shows, the entire eye was lined and winged giving a gorgeous ‘Goddess’ eye while other times, the liner was only kept on the upper lash line but still in a smokey, soft form.

2. Fuchsia lips
Lakme Fashion Week was high on statement lips and fuchsia/magenta lips were worn for many of the shows. In varying hues of fuchsia and magenta, the color looked gorgeous paired with smokey liner and a light dusting of blush. I’m a big fan of Fuchsia lips so this is perhaps my favorite trend!

3. Nude lips
The evergreen nude lip complemented the goddess eyes and graphic liner perfectly. Nude lips were seen in matte, cream as well as glossy finishes. My vote goes to the glossy nude lip paired with the Goddess eye!

4. Orange lips
The tangerine rage is here to stay! Lakme Fashion Week started with a creamy orange lip in the first show and the trend appeared in many forms during the 5 days – in a matte stained finish, in a sheer glossy version and in an opaque satin version. I loved the sheer glossy orange lip the most!

5. Deep lips : Burgundy/crimson lips
No autumn/winter collection is complete without the hues of crimson and burgundy. From glossy to matte, burgundy lips ruled the ramp especially paired with the Indianwear. A creamy crimson lip made an appearance too, paired with a simple liner and looked every inch as glamorous as red is supposed to be!

Lakme Monochrome Trend for this season
The trend of this season as highlighted in the Monochrome Collection by Lakme is Monochrome. A single color is used to highlight one part of the face keeping the look very simple, chic and sophisticated. I love the concept and I love the looks created on Kareena Kapoor for this season. Be it graphic black liner, purple smokey eyes or a statement red lip, Monochrome is the way to go this Winter!
