Before any important event, there’s a quick home beauty routine that I follow. I hope some of you will find this routine useful! It basically ensures that my skin is clear, healthy looking, my hair is nourished and freshly washed and I don’t have any unwanted hair on my arms, legs etc.
Here are some of the products I’m using currently for this routine :
For the FACE :
A quick 20 min facial like the one shown HERE works wonders! If I’m experiencing any breakouts, I would generally go with a face pack like Himalaya Herbals Neem Face pack. If my skin is free from pimples, I go for a skin brightening face pack like Aroma Magic Beauty Pack. I let the pack sit on my skin for at least 20 minutes and after washing off, apply a thick layer of cool Aloe Vera gel and leave it overnight.
For the BODY :
Make sure I go for a wax at the parlor 2 days prior to the event so that if I experience any rashes, they die down by the time of the event. I use The Body Shop bath gloves with a creamy body wash to exfoliate and cleanse the skin and after towel drying follow up with a moisturizing lotion or oil like the The Body Shop Beautifying Oil. I generally do this in the night so that I wake up to baby soft skin in the morning!
For the HAIR :
I use a nourishing oil like The Body Shop Beautifying Oil, massage it well into the roots and along the shaft of the hair and leave it on for at least an hour. During this time, I dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the towel on my head so that the oil absorbs better into the hair. The result is softer, silkier, nourished hair once I rinse off the oil. I use a shampoo depending on my hair type, I like the L’Oreal Paris Professional Liss Ultime shampoo as it helps reduce the frizz. I love Kerastase Hair Elixir as a leave in conditioner and as a serum on dry hair as a finishing touch to the freshly washed hair. It calms the frizz, adds shine and gives definition to the waves. Review of the Kerastase Hair Elixir HERE. I don’t generally iron or blow dry my hair. I wash my hair the night prior instead of washing hair the day itself, it gives me one thing less to do the next day!
For HAIR REMOVAL :
I generally do make time for a visit to the parlor for my brows and for waxing my arms and legs especially if I’m wearing something sleeveless. For emergencies, I keep a tube of a hair removal cream like Veet, a pair of tweezers (for brows) handy and a razor.
For the HANDS/FEET/NAILS :
I make sure to clean, buff, polish my nails and apply a fresh coat of nail paint. Neglected hand and feet make a very bad statement especially when the rest of you is all dolled up! I don’t get salon pedicures but do a quick one at home by immersing my feet in warm water containing any soap/oil for 15-20 minutes. I then use a scrub/foot file to clean the heels. If my feet are particularly tanned, I use bleach to give them a more presentable look. After cleansing and scrubbing, I massage my hands and feet with any good body lotion. By this time, the nails are soft and easy to cut. After cutting and filing, I apply the nail paint in 2 coats and seal it with a top coat.
DIETARY CONSIDERATIONS :
I try to ensure I drink 3 litres of water everyday starting 3-4 days prior at least. A good water intake definitely works in getting rid of water retention and adding a glow to the skin. I try to avoid much processed/salty food – it just adds to bloating. I also take at least 2 servings of fruits and vegetables each everyday – goes a long way in keeping the stomach clear and the skin healthy looking!
