It is Indian Textile Day today and the shows at LFW Winter-Festive 2012 were simply stunning! Traditional and Indo-western wear in rich fabrics and vibrant colors were the order of the day with gorgeous makeup to match! Moving on to the makeup and hair - Celebrating the Indian-ness of the designs today, makeup artists Clint Fernandes and Kapil Bhalla created mesmerizing goddess eyes and rich red lips with a wide variety of hair do ranging from chic buns to voluminous curls. Here’s the breakdown of the hair & beauty of today’s shows (in order).

Show 1: Gaurang/Pinnacle by Shruti Sancheti

Hair : Modern twist to the traditional bun – one on the front (to the side) and one at the back. Headpiece added for the second part of the show.

Makeup : Thick winged black liner only on upper lash line, dusty peach cheeks, glossy peach lips. Clean, simple, beautiful! Big Green bindi added on the forehead.

Show 2 : Famous by Payal Kapoor/Mayank Anand Shraddha Nigam

Hair : Voluminous Curls and Waves for the 1st part, changed to a messy side braid for the second part of the show.

Makeup : Pink eye shadow from Lakme eye shadow quad Desert Rose on lids, Kohl(Waterline) and black eye shadow(lower lash line), False lashes, natural cheeks, creamy red lip. I loved the look, it was so glamorous!

Lip color changed to a glossy orange (discontinued Lakme lip gloss)  for the second half of the show.

Hair : Sculpted braided hair, maang tika and veni  added for second part of the show.

Makeup : Gorgeous ‘goddess eyes‘ (As Kapil likes to call it) – thick winged liner on upper lash line, kohl on waterline and lower lash line, natural cheeks, soft coral lip gloss. (The backstage pics didn’t come out well but look how lovely the models look on the ramp! Goddess eyes indeed!)

Show 4 : Deepika Govind

Hair : Heavy bun at the back with hair flicked and set towards the crown (I’m good at describing makeup but not the hair, I’ll let the pics speak for themselves!)

Makeup : This show was a riot of color! Both in terms of outfits as well as the makeup. The forehead and section of the nose was painted in different shades on different models(blue/orange/green) with a large maroon bindi on the forhead. The eyes were framed with black kohl heavily and a glossy black cream shadow was added on the lid. The cheeks and lips were natural.

Show 5 : Krishna Mehta

Hair : A lovely bouffant with gold thread wound around it. I loved this hair do very much!!

Makeup : Thick winged smokey black liner on upper lash line, black kohl on waterline paired with a matte red lip. With the gold in the hair and the cream/gold of the outfits, I think this makeup looked absolutely amazing!!

Show 6 : Anita Dongre (AND)

Hair :  I keep calling them buns because I’m not sure of the hair styling jargon but each was unique and beautiful!! Check out this lovely one below -

Makeup : Clean, simple look with pink/peach hues. Pink eye shadow from Lakme Silk Route eye shadow quad Silk Route all over lid, brown on the outer corner, the same silvery pink on the lower lash, false lashes added to finish the look. Natural cheeks. Sheer soft pink lips.

I love AND outfits, most of the dresses I own are from AND. Its too bad I missed this show as it was quite late and I had to get back home in time to work on this post (which takes me about 3 hours to compile!!).
