For this season, Lakme has unveiled something refreshingly different from what we’ve seen in that past. Keeping with the spirit of ‘Makeup that doesn’t look made-up’, Lakme showcased 4 gorgeous (and wearable!) makeup looks with the new collection ‘Monochrome‘. The new collection consists of a new 6-color Lip palette and some selected pieces from the existing Absolute range.
Here are some photos of the event at Lakme Absolute Fab lab at LFW Winter-Festive 2012..
What is Lakme Absolute Fab Lab :
Fab Lab is a space created at Lakme Fashion Week (Grand Hyatt, Mumbai) where the makeup launches happen. The space is stunningly created in keeping with the collection being launched and this time, it was modeled in black and white with a pop of red. The collection being launched is called Monochrome and showcases gorgeous Day and Night wear looks on the brand ambassador Kareena Kapoor. The Fab Lab is a place where one can experience all the makeup products as they are put on an attractive display.
One half of the Fab Lab was modeled in white and the 2 pillars had larger than life size images of Kareena Kapoor showcasing the Day looks. Similarly. on the opposite side of the room modeled in black, the 2 pillars depict Kareena in Night time looks. Each of these is beautiful and more importantly, wearable and easy to create!
Lakme Fashion Week Grand Finale designers Kallol Dutta and Pankaj & Nidhi unveiled these looks at Fab Lab today and spoke about the Monochrome inspiration behind this collection. Next, Makeup Artist Cory Walia demonstrated one of the Night Time makeup looks on model/actress Amrit (pictured below). The look has a purple wash on the lids with smudged heavy kohl+ liner. The lips and cheeks are kept subtle with a natural pink.
This is the final look on the beautiful Amrit (you might recognize her from Lakme skincare campaigns) –
Coral started by applying the Lakme Absolute Mattreal Mousse to even out the skin tone. Since it has a matte finish, he did not follow up with powder.
Next, he applied a wash of purple eye shadow from Absolute eye shadow duo in Night Desire all over the lid and softened it in the crease. He then applied Absolute kohl on the upper lash line, waterline, lower lash line and smudged it with the tip on the other end of the kohl. He finished the eyes with a coat of Absolute Mascara.
He applied a shimmery pink blush on Amrit’s cheeks and filled in the lips with a neutral pink shade from the 6 lip color travel palette. He then completed the look with some lip gloss (Absolute Beige Shine) on the center of the lips.
The finished look :
L-R : Purnima Lamba (Head – Innovation, Lakme), Nidhi & Pankaj(Grand Finale Designers), Amrit (model/actress), Cory Wali(Make up artist) and Kallol Dutta(Grand Finale Designer)
[note color=”#FFE4C4″]I was expecting more products and perhaps a heavier, more bridal sort of a collection but I was pleasantly surprized and actually really liked the idea of the Day and Night looks. Most importantly, these looks are simple, wearable and easy to create. I will put up high res images of the Day and Night looks as created on Kareena Kapoor soon and will be doing a tutorial on each after the Fashion Week! What do you think? Btw isn’t Amrit gorgeous? I loved what she was wearing! [/note]
