I’ve been reviewing quite a few MAC Blushes lately ~ Sunbasque, Melba and now Ambering Rose which is another gorgeous warm shade especially for medium-to-dusky skin tones!
Price : Rs 1350 for 6 g
My take on the product
I know what you’re thinking, that’s a horribly dark shade in the pan but once you’ve tried on a few of these shades, you know how lovely they look on the cheeks. Ambering Rose is described as Muted Rose by MAC but to me its a burnt orange-y pink shade. The formula is Sheertone Shimmer (same as Sunbasque) which means it contains a fair amount of soft golden shimmer, has sheer pigmentation which allows one to layer product as desired. The great thing about Sheertone Shimmer is that it is very easy to use for beginners because one can build up the color in a few swipes and it blends very easily with barely any effort! The shimmer is very fine and non-gritty. It is well integrated into the formula and doesn’t travel on the face as it wears. It also doesn’t accentuate pores and imperfections.
Ambering Rose stays around 7 hours on me and there is quite a bit of fading by hour 8 which is a pretty good staying power for a blush! Like I said, the shade looks very dark in the pan but being sheer, it translates to a very pretty bronzed pink glow on the cheeks. I think its a very pretty shade for all skin tones though it will look exceptionally beautiful on dusky/tanned skin because of the reddish undertones. For your reference, I am close to NC35 in MAC.
Highly recommended!
Sunbasque is much different from Ambering Rose and even though I prefer Ambering Rose, I feel Sunbasque is more universally flattering. Ambering Rose has quite a reddish tinge which may look a tad muddy on very pale skin and if someone has natural redness, it may accentuate that too. Sunbasque on the other hand is more neutral and wearable for everyone.
The GOOD about MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush Ambering Rose:
- Sturdy packaging with transparent cover – makes it easy to locate shades
- Smooth texture
- Medium pigmentation, allows one to layer the product for more intensity
- Blends very easily
- Wears well for almost 8 hours
- Shimmer is fine, non-gritty and well integrated into the formula
- Shimmer does not budge/travel on the face after application
- Does not accentuate pores/imperfections
- Gives a lovely bronzed pink glow to the cheeks
- Can be worn during day as well as night time
- Expensive
Overall Verdict
MAC Ambering Rose is a gorgeous orange tinged rose pink with red undertones that gives a lovely bronzed pink glow to the skin. The texture is smooth, the pigmentation is buildable and it blends easily to give an excellent staying power. I would recommend this to everyone with medium-to-dusky/tanned skin, its an excellent product from MAC combining a great formula and lovely shade!
