Fun Saturdays Vol.3 : 5 Favorite Healthy Snacks


I am a self confessed foodie and I need a snack almost every 2 hours! Here are some of my 5 favorite healthy indulgences that make fabulous in-between meals and are healthy as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Fruit Yogurt

I absolute love fruit yogurt and my favorite is Mother Dairy because is so much smoother than the other brands and contains fruit bits as well. Currently loving Plum and Blueberry though Mango is my all time favorite!

2. Dry Fruits

Theyย are excellent source of minerals and contain essential nutrients. My favorites includeย Almondsย (Badaam),ย Cashewsย (kaju),ย Pistachiosย (pista),ย Dried Figย (anjeer) andย Prunes! Prunes and Anjeers are a healthy way to curb sweet cravings too! Dry fruits are great for skin, hair and nail growth as well.

3.ย Popcorn

I try to stick to the classic low-butter variety! Excellent munching companion with a gripping novel!

4. Roasted Peanuts and Chana

These are loaded with nutrients and make a great snack! I really like the the Lime/Mint flavored Peanuts from Jabsons!

5. Fruits!

One should consume at least 2 fruits a day and the more colorful and varied your fruit plate, the better! I haven’t been very regular with my fruit intake but hoping to get back on track with some pineapples, mangoes and pomegranate!

    Nyc one…I too love popcorns but the ones wid cheese n butter!! hehe And chanas are my fav too…well vn fruits are considered,,I like apples,oranges,melons n grapes.. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

    hi ankita, howz u? interesting post.. my fav sunday tv snack is roasted makhana. (u know the kheer wala makhana) beats popcorn anyday (though i love popcorn too). with wee bit of ghee, salt n pepper, roast it. i read in rujuta diwekar’s book tht saif ali khan is a convert! from popcorn to makhana i mean. low in calories, high in calcium! my mom is diabetic, even she can enjoy these.

    i also like britania nutrichoice ragi biscuits. it has a nutty after taste.. but i hv started liking it.

    hey… hv u tried kakdi (cucumber like, but thin) sprinkled with jaljeera powder? sounds weird na.. but tastes good. my cousin is 12 yrs old. it is compulsory in his school to bring n eat a fruit during fruit break.this is what he likes as fruit!! hehe!

    fruit yoghurt is great. i like fruit smoothies too. lychee/strawberry, low fat curd and sum sugar free natura, and sum crushed ice..!!!!!

    similarly.. i love hot cocoa. low fat milk, twinings cocoa powder, sugar free natura, wee bit of vanilla essence, cinnamon, salt!! smoooothh!!

      I’ll try Makhana, thanks for the tip! I like smoothies too but just don’t make it that often! You’ve given me lots of ideas now ๐Ÿ™‚

    almonds are a big hit with me too.. then walnuts… i take very less of the rest of the nuts u mentioned….

    act II popcorn is something i load with every grocery shopping… i love the butter varieties.. but keeping in mind how healthy i am already… go for the classic salted..

    pomegranate, golden apple, fuji apple, guava, grapes, jamun, butterfruit are my favz when it comes to frootz!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    My snacks are invariably unhealthy, fried things! I keep my kids away from them, but I cant resist lays and its ilk. But I rarely indulge, so it’s not too bad.

    I love making myself garlic toast, with some pan fried veggies once in a while though.

    I love fruit yoghurt, though I hate curds.

    Im really hungry now, Ankita ๐Ÿ™

    i love to make bhel of frozen corn with onion and cornflakes, a hint of chaat masala and squeeze lemon on top. voila! you are ready with a yummy snack. i love to eat it daily.

    after seeing this back dated post i couldn't resist myself to comment because its related to food.. i am also a person who need to have something to eat after every 3-4 hours… & if i talk about water then i need water after every 30-40 minutes.. case of milk products i love to take cow milk or double toned milk with 2 strands of saffron (in winters) , buttermilk with roasted cumin seeds(in summers) both helps in enhancing the facial glow.. 2. Dry fruits almonds, walnuts & raisins.. 3. i don't like popcorns (irritates my gums) 4.i like both roasted chana & peanuts.. 5. Fruits it depends upon the mood.. i like to eat apples, grapes, pineapple & my all time favorite is sweet lime…
