My take on the product
Colorbar’s latest lip color priced steeply at Rs 699 comes in a jumbo pencil crayon packaging with a complimentary sharpener. The pencil is thicker than your regular thick pencils like NYX Jumbo pencil and Colorbar concealer etc. so one would need the sharpener that comes with it. The pencil is made of wood (with a plastic cap) and sharpens without requiring too much pressure. The good thing is that the product is super pigmented so you would need to sharpen after every application. The pencil is about 5 inches in length (a little shorter than my palm) and contains 3.94 g of product which isn’t a lot considering the fact that some will be lost in sharpening this creamy pencil! The sharpener doesn’t have a bottom (unlike like most other Sharpeners) but has a small piece of plastic that is supposed to hold the detachable bottom in place! I don’t know if my particular piece doesn’t have a bottom or they missed on that entirely in the design. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it simply means that as you sharpen, the shavings are going to come off right then instead of staying in the sharpener to be emptied later at your leisure 😛 It’s not really a big issue as such but since it’s a Rs 700 lip color from Colorbar, I am going into the smallest details!
The texture of the lip color is really good – soft, smooth and creamy enough to glide well but not so much that it breaks off during application. It is very VERY pigmented so you need just a small amount to get the true color. The crayon style pointed tip makes for easier application than regular lipstick bullets. It has a faint fragrance which I can’t quite recognize (it’s not Vanilla like the Velvet matte range though thankfully!) which vanishes soon after application. The lip color has a creamy matte finish which ensures the lips don’t look unflatteringly dry on application. However, it is a matte lip color after all and I do feel a dryness few hours after application. Since it’s very pigmented and matte, the color stays on for a long time. I wore it for about 8+ hours and at the end of it, I had significant color(with barely any fading) on my lips which I had to remove with a cream cleanser. I like the texture and the long stay but it gets a bit patchy as it wears (Especially after meals) though that can be remedied by just pressing the lips together. The color is staining so it will definitely last beyond 8 hours of wear. The slightly unpleasant part is that it tends to settle into lip lines but you’ll only notice that once you are removing it because it barely wears off from the top surface for the filled out lip lines to actually show through!
The shade Sensuous Red is very orange toned red that is bold, beautiful and very much in vogue right now! It appears more orange-y here but thats because the camera generally warms up the shade a notch. Matte finish bold shades always look gorgeous especially when paired with simple eye makeup and luminous skin and this is no exception. The shade might not suit very cool toned skin types but would look great on neutral-warm skin tones.
If you’re a matte lipstick fan, you should definitely try this out. Its expensive for a Colorbar product but the quality is good and the shade is gorgeous! These are definitely a better formula as compared to the Velvet Mattes but I still find Rs 699 really steep!

- Soft, creamy texture
- Doesn’t break off during application [due to creaminess]
- Glides on the lips without tugging
- Amazingly pigmented

- Product wastage during sharpening
- Color get a little patchy after meals, settles into lip lines
Colorbar Take me As I am Lip color Sensuous Red is a deep orange tinged red that comes in a convenient crayon pencil packaging. The pencil comes with its own sharpens and sharpens easily though there is quite a bit of product wastage since its a really creamy product. The texture is soft and creamy, the pigmentation is amazing and it stays incredibly long on the lips. It does however come with the cons that all matte lipsticks do – can be drying after few hours, settles into lip lines and can get a bit patchy after meals. It is definitely a better formula as compared to the Velvet Mattes but I still find Rs 699 really steep!
