After a brief hiatus from this feature, I’m back with the Celebrity Makeup Files and today, the spotlight is on Aishwarya Rai. I’ve not been a huge fan of this former Miss World’s makeup style off the screen but I absolutely love her makeup in all of L’oreal Paris commercials! I know that quite a bit of editing and color correction goes into commercials but I still really like the general style in which her makeup is done for L’Oreal Paris. It is fresh and sophisticated and gives that Global Ambassador look.

Makeup Breakdown
Eyes :
Aishwarya Rai is well known for her gorgeous eyes. To accentuate her light eye color and give a more open look to the eyes, the upper lash line is heavily lined with black liner while the water line is kept bare with flesh toned liner. The upper lash liner is jet black and most often winged at the outer corner giving a subtle cat eye effect. A pair of dense false lashes, some taupe brown eye shadow defining the crease, outer corner and lower lash line complete the simple, sophisticated eye makeup. The final touch is the neat, defined brows filled out with dark brown brow color.

For the skin care commercials where makeup is kept really natural, she only sports some dark brown liner on the upper lash line, brown eye shadow on the lower lash line and natural mascara.

Face :
The face is kept semi-matte in most the commercials with very subtle highlighting in some parts. The foundation is full coverage yet not heavy and gives the look of gorgeous creamy skin. There is just a hint of an apricot colored blush. Since she has slightly rounded cheeks, the blush is applied more like a contour to give a sculpted look to the face. I like the minimal look and the blush shade is really natural and very flattering on her.
In one commercial, she sports a bronzed look with a glossy coral lip which looks great on her as well!

Lips :
She sports different lip colors in different commercials and I think she looks great with neutrals as well as a pop of garnet on her lips! I’ve always seen her with a touch of gloss on the lips and it really gives a luscious, healthy look. My favorite lip color on her is a a deep blue toned red(last 2 pics of this post)! To get the Aishwarya Rai pout, moisturize and exfoliate lips well before applying lip color, apply the lip color with a brush in small amounts, building it up in layers to that is looks more like a stain. Finish off with a thin layer of gloss on top.

I love her makeup in all the L’oreal commercials specially the True match one. So fresh! Think she looks best in nude colors…brings out her natural beauty
You’re quite right. I love how the nude color bring focus to her gorgeous eyes!
I like her makeup, but I think it would have been better if they had drawn a thinner line of taupe under her eyes. It almost makes her look tired as is.
It does seem to cast a shadow under the eyes which is not so flattering in some of the images!
Can u recommend a Mac brown shadow to create her first makeup look?
Hey Sashkia, I don’t think she’s wearing any eye shadow in the first pic, just looks like taupe liner to me. You can use something like MAC Mystery or MAC Keep your cool with a damp brush to line and achieve a similar effect!
please do some makeup tutorials on her makeup looks! they look amazing! which taupe brown eyeshadow would u recommend?
Just did one for the Cannes look! Any other you want me to do? I think something like MAC Mystery or even Bourjois Intense Extrait no. 9 would work!

Beautiful no doubt, but one can’t ignore the multitude of photoshop features used on her pics! l’oreal did her Cannes makeup as well and that was very, very ordinary!
I do agree on that but like I mentioned in the beginning, I quite like the style they do it for the commercials, keeping the waterline bare and going heavier on the upper lash line!
