Today I’m reviewing a mascara I have been raving about a lot lately ~ the L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara in Extra-Black!

The Millionizer brush has a multitude of bristles to separate lashes for a fanned-out lash effect. The elastomer applicator is ultra flexible with both long and short bristles to coat each lash evenly from root to tip.The excess wiper removes excess mascara. It leaves the brush coated with just the right amount of formula to achieve maxed up volume with no overload and no clumps.

My take on the product
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara comes in a black and gold tube which has the name of the product emboldened along its length. I like the packaging – both in appearance as well functionality. The brush is amazing and the wiper inside the tube ensures that the brush does not pick up excess product. My main issue with many mascaras including high end ones has been excess product on the brush but this one is cleverly designed to overcome that. The brush has lots of tiny plastic bristles that give volume+length without coating the lashes with too much product. The only downside is that the brush is rather thick so the very tiny inner lashes can be difficult to coat without getting some product on the skin. The tube design is slightly thicker than how I like, its easier to hold slimmer handles during application but this is a really minor issue!
The mascara dries down quickly though not so quickly that you can’t work with it for a few seconds. It volumizes as well as lengthens but what I love most about it is that it gives the lashes a very clean, defined look, almost as if one is wearing a false lashes. The ends of the lashes are perfectly aligned which just looks so symmetric and neat! It does the fanned out effect that it claims. Out of all the mascaras I’ve tried so far, this is the only one which gives this effect! It also holds up curl really well, I generally curl my lashes in the morning when I do my makeup and even 10 hours later, my lashes look perfectly curled! I also love the jet-black color of this mascara!

Even though it is not waterproof, I’ve rarely had issues with it running down but then I do not have a very moist eye area and water-resistant works fine for me. However, women with very oily/sweaty eye area should steer clear of this one because it will run down if you sweat a lot around the eyes. The upside is that it comes off easily with any makeup remover (not plain water though). Priced at Rs 600, it was in the same range as Bourjois mascaras but with the price increase from to Rs 700, it has become slightly on the expensive side.
Overall, its is one of my favorite mascaras and even though it has some drawbacks, I just love the effect it gives to the lashes. I can see myself repurchasing this one over and over again! Highly recommended!

- Holds up curl very well
- Water resistant
- Jet black shade
- Comes off easily with makeup remover or soap+water
The NOT-SO-GOOD about L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Extra-Black Mascara :
- Not waterproof
- The brush is thick so the tiny inner lashes can be difficult to coat

Overall Verdict
L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Extra-Black Mascara is a jet black mascara that volumizes as well as lengthens lashes to give a very neat, well defined, fanned out look that I’ve not found with any other mascara (yet!). The packaging is designed well so it doesn’t pick up excess product and the wand coats the lashes very evenly from root to tip. It holds up curl well, doesn’t make the lashes stuff or uncomfortable and stays put the entire day without flaking off! I absolutely love this mascara and the only drawback I find is that it is not waterproof! If you don’t have a sweaty eye area, you should definitely give this a shot!

ankita.. i ve been using maybelline colossal since forever..lol.. i m wondering whether to change to this one or is maybelline better ?
I’m also a colossal girl. have been using it for years and love it. but my friend recently brought this and i’ve tried it out a few times and its darker than the colossal and i feel my lashes are longer. but its around 2.5 times the price of the colossal mascara so i wonder if i can just make do with an extra coat or two of colossal instead! lol
You know what? As far as I am concerned… this is by far the best mascara I have used so far. THE BEST!!! I haven’t faced any issues with clumps or smudges. I actually tried the most dramatic mascara that Clinique had, and the Maybelline Million Lashes mascara; the difference of which was beyond comparison.
I LO-H-OVE this product because it is very reasonably priced (for the quality) and is ACTUALLY million lashes. Add a bit of eye-lash curler … and VOILA!
P.S. Your eye-lashes are still the best in town!
