MAC Tuesday : Matte blush Melba ~ Review, Swatches and Photos

I absolutely love my MAC Fleur Power blush and it was time to add another MAC blush to my kit. I zeroed on MAC Melba which is beautiful matte peach-pink blush that gives the most natural flush to the skin! It doesn’t look so exciting in the pan, almost looks like a dull dirty light brown but on the cheeks, it is simply gorgeous!

Price : Rs 1350 (used to be Rs 1150!) for 6 gm

My take on the product

MAC Melba comes in the regular black MAC packaging – black plastic container with transparent flip top lid, no mirror/applicator.

The texture of this blush is soft and smooth. It doesn’t have any chalkiness that some matte products tend to have. It is well pigmented but not as much as the Sleek blushes but its best to go light with the application. It blends really easily and well to give a smooth natural finish. The matte finish makes it really versatile and wearable. Since the texture is soft, using too much pressure with the brush can kick up excess product. Since its matte, oily-skinned women like me do not have to worry about their pores getting accentuated because of the shimmer in the product. It stays about 5-6 hours on my skin. Formula-wise, it is a great product except I wish it stayed an hour or two longer!

The shade Melba is an earthy peachy pink (MAC describes it as a soft peach-coral) which would be very flattering on just any skin tone because it has a bit of pink for the pale, cool toned gals and a peachy brown-ness for the warm/dusky ones! On my cheeks, it looks more of a peachy pink than an earthy peach but because it has a mix of shades, it would show up slightly different on different skin tones. I love this blush and I can’t imagine why I didn’t pick it up sooner! It makes an excellent companion to pink/coral/peach lipsticks and would work well with neutrals as well. I would recommend this blush to everyone! It is a MUST-HAVE!

(However, if you’re duskier than NC44-45, it might not show up well on you)

The GOOD about MAC Melba blush :

  1. Classy black MAC packaging – transparent lid makes it easy to locate shades if you own many shades
  2. Smooth texture – finely milled powder
  3. Very pigmented
  4. Blends easily
  5. Gives decent wear time
  6. Very small quantity required for each application
  7. Gorgeous shade – would suit all skin tones
  8. Matte finish- can be worn with a variety of looks
  9. Did not irritate my oily acne prone skin in any way
The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Melba blush :
  1. Very soft texture- causes a bit of fall out if one is too harsh while picking up product on brush
  2. Expensive!
  3. MAC is available only in select cities in India

Overall Verdict

It is a gorgeous earthy peach blush with a matte finish that gives a natural flush of color to the cheeks. The formula is excellent in terms of texture, pigmentation , blendability however staying power could have been a little better. The shade is versatile and works with warm as well as cool skin tones. It is one of the most prettiest blushes from MAC and I would Highly recommend it everyone!
