Hey everyone!
Today I’m reviewing Colorbar I-glide eye pencil in a gorgeous warm purple shade ~ Prunella.
Price : Rs 399 (used to be Rs 325 till a few weeks back)
Quantity : 1.1 g
What Colorbar says about the product :
Defines like a pencil and glides like liquid eyeliner. This effortlessly easy to use I-Glide Eye Pencil with its smooth formulation, gives your eyes rich colour in a single stroke and blends in easily after application. Lasts longer than 8 hours; does not feather or bleed.
My take on the product
The Colorbar I-Glide pencil comes in a silvered plastic packaging – sharpenable pencil form with a colored end to locating shades easily. I personally do not like the packaging so much- it looks a little tacky and is not always very easy to sharpen. I prefer wooden pencils (Like Bourjois ones) to the plastic ones. One of the major downsides of this packaging is that there is a lot of product wastage during sharpening.
The texture is very smooth and creamy but not to a point that it’ll break off on application. It is quite pigmented and Prunella glided smoothly on the lids giving true color in a single swipe. The downside of the creamy texture is that it breaks during sharpening some times and leads to a lot of product wastage! The formula is pretty much smudge proof and has excellent staying power. It stays on the lids till removed by an oil based remover. It does not transfer to the socket line even on oily lids. My mum has tried the shade Cocobar and nothing survives on her super oily lids but this one did!
Prunella is warm purple shade, more like an aubergine shade that looks great with neutral eye shadows. Its not a very intense or eye catching purple but it does have a soft pearl sheen to it. Its ideal for those who like a subtle hint of color on their eyes without drawing too much attention. I’m quite fond of purples in general so I like this shade especially paired with plummy neutral eye shadows like MAC Sable and Twinks.
I have smudged Prunella on the upper lash line in the following look :
The GOOD about Colorbar I-glide eye pencil Prunella :
- Pencil form – easy to apply, hygienic (can be sharpened)
- Creamy, soft texture – no tugging/pulling at the lids
- Well pigmented
- Does not transfer/smudge on the lids to socket line
- Stays put entire day till removed with oil based remover
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Colorbar I-glide eye pencil Prunella :
- Pencil is not always very smooth to sharpen
- Creamy texture leads to wastage during sharpening
- Not safe for waterline
- Price has been increased from Rs 325 to Rs 399, it is not longer one the more affordable pencil liners in the market!
See how it adds a soft hint of purple in an otherwise neutral look :
Overall Verdict
Colorbar I-Glide Eye Pencils have a super creamy, smooth texture, excellent pigmentation and a smudgeproof finish that delivers all day wear with no fading or bleeding. The shade Prunella is a lovely warm purple /aubergine with a soft sheen that adds just a subtle hint of color to the eyes and looks great paired with neutral plum eye shadows. The only downside so far to this pencil was the difficulty and product wastage during sharpening but with the price increase to almost Rs 400, I think it has lost out on its strong position as a budget friendly product!
Rating : 4/5

Its one of my fav eye liner pencil! I have one, got it when it was 325! Now I am no more getting it!
No doubt its good but everyone these days increasing price like anything!
I know! I just noticed that Maybelline and Bourjois have increased the prices too!
i hv this in BLACKOUT n m using this since last year… its my fav product i use it as kohl everyday on my waterline… nothings stays better than this one. its true sharpening leads to a lots of wastage… every time i use it i had to sharpen it so it lasts for about a month .. bt yup the increase in price has really disappointed me…..
I’ve heard a lot of people rave about Blackout as kohl but sadly it feels a little uncomfortable on my waterline so I just wear these on the upper lash line!
hey i ordered this yesterday only…..as a matter of fact ive been wanting to get it since a long time…..but my blackout eye pencil is so soft and like u mentioned there’s too much product wastage so was hesitant until i saw ur eyemakeup yesterday….ankita u actually drove me to spend 400 bucks on this eye pencil-well not really coz i was placing an order for some tings i needed on an online site n i had a 500 inr voucher with me so actually this came free
loved the color…
THanks Nisha! Have you tried the Colorbar I-glide pencils?
I agree..colorbar is hiking prices badly..even the blushes r no longer for Rs.300..they hav hiked to Rs.550..
The name Prunella reminds me of one of the stepsisters in Cinderella. I’m not sure why. I hate it when pencils are so creamy that they apply well but also result in losing product. ; w ;
