Today I’m reviewing one my current favorites lip colors ~ Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in the shade Buff.
Price : Rs 220 (approx. $4.50-5.50)
My take on the product
Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks need no introduction. These are one of the most popular budget lipsticks with their amazing price point, smooth creamy texture, good pigmentation and wide shade range. They now come in a new copper colored packaging (as opposed to the previous red one) and the added ‘Colorsensational’ in their name. The packaging isn’t very attractive but since the formula is decent and the price is pretty reasonable, one can ignore that!
The texture is soft and creamy, these are really well pigmented and glide smoothly on the lips to give a creamy opaque finish in single swipe. The formula, though quite creamy in feel, isn’t very long lasting and I get about 3-3.5 hours of wear with barely any staining with this shade. There may be *slight* bleeding of color outside the lip line but dabbing a bit of foundation+powder around the lip area or using a lip liner may solve that. It may not necessarily bleed but on occasions where I’ve had meals while wearing this, I have noticed a bit of bleeding. The color may settle into lines a bit but not in a way that very noticeable, you would notice it only when you peer really close into the mirror. It is moisturizing and one can feel that in the glide of the creamy formula though its not the most moisturizing lipstick I’ve come across.
Overall, the formula is decent but not great. However, my biggest issue with these lipsticks is the fungus! I had picked up the shade Bronze Orange last year and when I took it out recently after a few months, there are a blackish colored slight fungus dusting on the entire bullet of the lipstick. I have read many other reviews of these lipstick where women have had the same experience. I wish they would fix this because there are so many great shades in this range that I would love to try but the fungus episode really puts me off!
The shade Buff :
The best thing about this lipstick is the shade! Buff is a dusty coral with a hint of brownish red, its a gorgeous shade and would most skin tones (except very cool toned ones). It complements my skin tone(neutral leaning towards cool) very well and looks like a very natural coral on my lips. For medium/dusky skin tones, it would make a great everyday shade and any warm blush would go well with it. It is one of my favorite lipsticks to be paired with green/blue eye makeup. Its an amazing shade especially for Indian skin tones, I would recommend it to everyone! It is a MUST-HAVE!
The GOOD about Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick B42 Buff :
- Smooth, creamy texture
- Good pigmentation
- Decent staying power
- Available in a wide shade range
- Reasonably priced
- Gorgeous shade , would suit most people
- It may bleed a bit or settle into fine lines
- Packaging isn’t really attractive
- Develops fungus over time!
Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick B42 Buff is a gorgeous dusty coral that looks natural and at the same time very fresh and summery on the lips! The texture of the lipstick is smooth and creamy, its well pigmented and gives a wear time of about 3.5 hours. The formula is not the best but I love the shade. I’ve had an episode of fungus developing over the lipstick bullet over time which has put me off this range but the shade is gorgeous, I would look for a dupe of this in another brand/range but for the beauties on a budget, I would highly recommend this shade!
