What L’oreal Paris says about the product :

Infallible make-up is L’Oréal Paris’ first foundation that fights the signs of make-up melt down and lasts up to 16 hours. The exceptional continuous perfecting power of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lasting Perfecting Foundation is a result of L’Oréal Paris’ Laboratories scientific innovation: Co-Resistium technology.

The Infallible make-up formula with a high dry pigment content provides optimal coverage and evens out skin tone perfectly. Encased in a fluoride base, the ultra-resistant pigments contribute to form a barrier against perspiration and sebum, and to provide exceptional foundation hold up to 16 hours!

On application, the Co-Resistium technology forms a highly resistant and extremely stable network. This allows the pigments to remain in cohesion with the skin, for a uniform colour and a good hold. Therefore they preserve the skin’s natural freshness and luminosity while lastingly guarding against signs of fatigue. The result: a perfect finish that looks freshly applied all day long!

Infallible make-up fights the signs of foundation meltdown:

Hides blemishes: dark circles and redness are concealed all day thanks to the continuous perfecting power.
Stops shine: the formula provides an anti-shine action.
Prevents rub-off: thanks to the anti-transfer formula.
Combats signs of fatigue: preserves skin’s natural freshness and luminosity.
Fights the signs of humidity.

My take on the product

L’oreal Paris is known to make good foundation like the True Match (roll on and Mineral) and Matt Morphose. The Infallible Makeup lasting Perfection Foundation does not disappoint either, its in fact quite a great foundation especially those looking for long wear base makeup!

Packaging :

It comes in a transparent bottle with a wine colored pump dispenser on the top. The bottle is made of thick glass which feels quite sturdy, I happened to accidentally drop it one time and it barely got a scratch, even the transparent cap of the pump dispenser did not come off. So one can say its quite strong and safe for travel as well. I quite like the look of the packaging as well. However, the pump dispenser dispenses too much product, about half to 3/4th of a pump is sufficient for the face and neck.

Formula :

The consistency of the foundation is neither too thick nor too runny. It spreads easily enough and I was quite surprized by how little product was needed! I have worked with this using fingers, with sponge as well as brush and it applied well with each though I found my fingers giving me the best results. It feels quite light on the skin(see before/after swatches), it gives good coverage without giving that heavy, masked feeling foundations that some good coverage foundations too. I would say the coverage is about medium to full, its sufficient to mask imperfections and I mostly skip my under eye concealer to while using this as it covers up my under eye dark circles quite well.

Finish :

The finish is not dewy but not matte either, its somewhere in between. It does give a nice glow to the skin which is not due to any shimmer/pearl present in the formula. It does not look cakey or heavy on the skin at all, in fact it gives a really natural finish on blending which you can see in my blended swatch.

It is not very moisturizing though not drying either.  I would suggest dry skinned women to use a heavier moisturizer underneath. It will work well for all skin types. On my oily skin, it keeps the skin semi-matte for about 4-5 hours after which my T-zone begins to show a bit of shine. When I’m wearing it the entire day, average of 12 hours, I typically need to powder my face 2-3 times which I think is quite decent oil control. I have also worn it over a heavier moisturizer just to test and it made my face shiny in about 2-2.5 hours so it will definitely work for dry skins as well as long as they use a moisturizer meant for dry skin underneath.

Wear time :

It doesn’t melt in the heat which is why I think its really good during summers especially for humid places like Mumbai. I hate it when foundations melt in the warmer/humid weather and stain the inside of the collar in case you are wearing a shirt or high neck top!  It did not oxidize on my skin over time and stayed put for the 14 hours I have tested it. One of the best things about this foundation is that is doesn’t settle into lines or imperfections of the face, it truly works to give a flawless, even toned finish to the skin that lasts all day!

The only thing that I find a little unpleasant about it is the smell, it has an artificial fragrance which I do not like but since it vanishes after application, it is not a big issue!

The shade 140 Golden Beige :

The shade sent by the brand is a little lighter than my skin tone (between NC37 and NC 40 in MAC) but it adjusts to my skin tone within a few minutes to give a natural shade and does not look like I’m wearing the wrong shade. The L’oreal website has not been updated with the no. of shades but medplusbeauty.com offers 8 shades in this range, Golden Beige seems to the second lightest shade in this range and I think most women would find a match. However, I will check out the shades at the nearest L’oreal counter soon and update this post in case of any discrepancies.

Overall Verdict

Overall I think its a fabulous foundation, gives a semi-matte (but non-drying) finish, medium to full coverage and a flawless even tone that stands the test of time, heat, humidity to give an excellent long wear foundation. I see it working for all skin types though dry skinned women should use a good moisturizer underneath this. Definitely recommended for summers and for women who need long wear base makeup. Less is more with this product and its best to use to pump a tiny amount from the pump, you’ll be surprized at how little amount of product is needed!

Is this your favourite foundation to date? how does it compare with the others you’ve tried? Cochin is one horrid humid soup at the moment, don’t even feel like wearing powder foundation on most days.

I do like it for a certain state on my skin – oily but not too oily one. MAC Matchmaster gives this one tough competition. When my skin is really oily, I like the Clinique Anti-blemish solution and when its combination, I love the Clarins mousse foundation (it is amazing! I’ve worn it in a few looks of mine last month but yet to review)

Ankita, i am really curious to know more about Clarins mousse foundation. I am just about to finish my third bottle of Bobbi brown illuminating foundation which is brilliant !! but my next business trip to US is not very soon 🙁 so decided to pick up Clarins mousse foundation and i have found myself counting on your review everytime i want to pick a piece of makeup these days. So could you please post a review on the same.

P.S : My skin texture is very much like yours.

Hi Shweta, for dry skin, make sure to moisturize really well before applying foundation. You can try The Body Shop extra virgin minerals foundation, its suitable for dry skin. For shine, use a highlighter separately, you can try Colorbar radiant glow highlighter (pen) or Revlon skinlights or Revlon Age defying spa illuminator.
