Its Sunday and instead of my Celebrity Makeup Files feature, I’m doing a compilation of looks that have been inspiring me for summer makeup. There are many different trends when it comes to makeup for each season but there are some looks that are classic and timeless and no matter what the trend, they look and feel right for the season! Whether it be rosy, dewy freshness or a pop of color on the eyes or lips, summer is all about keeping it light and fresh!
Here are my 4 Iconic Looks for the Summer :
I. Fresh and Dewy
This look is something that is simple and works on every skin tone. Natural rosy tones, hints of pink, peach with a touch of pastel(for paler skins) are way to go for this look. The skin is kept dewy and fresh, the lips have a hint of gloss and a natural soft blush is a must for this look!
Some of my favorites –
1. Leighton Meester in Gossip Girl
No one does the dewy, fresh faced look as well as Queen bee Blair Waldorf (her character’s name in Gossip Girl). Soft smudged brown liner, dewy rosy cheeks and softly tinted lips with a touch of gloss – thats her signature look that she wears as a high school student in the initial seasons of the show.
2. Dia Mirza at The Body Shop press event
The warm peachy tones go wonderfully on her skin, this is a great look for warm toned women when they want to look fresh and natural!
3. Michelle Williams on the Red Carpet
4. Emma Stone in Revlon Colorburst lip butter commercial
I think most women who purchased the shade Peach Parfait from this range did it after seeing this image! 🙂
5. Rachel Bilson at an event
I love how light the foundation is here, you can see her freckles peeking through! The touch of gold liner looks great against her warm brown eyes.
6. Bobbi Brown Rose Gold collection for the Spring/Summer 2012
II. High Voltage Lips
A pop of fiery red, hot pink or saucy tangerine on the lips instantly gives a summery look! The key is to keep the rest of the makeup light and fresh and let the lips do the talking!
1. Taylor Swift at a Photoshoot
2. Fan Bingbing at the Premiere of ‘Tree of Life’
One of my favorite Tangerine looks, the matte deep orange looks so beautiful against the yellow dress and her skin tone!
3. Leighton Meester on Gossip Girl
4. Beyonce Knowles on set
5. Alexis Bledel at an event
6. Annalynne McCord on 90210
III. Embrace the color!
Play up your eyes with bright eye shadows and liners for the summer. The pop of color adds a fresh, summery touch to the face. Keep the lips simple. Sometime all you need is a wash of a bright over the lid to make a statement!
2. Runway Trends
3. Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Collection Promo image
4. Hayley Williams
I do not know the model but the makeup is beautiful for paler skin tones!
6. Olivia Wilde in the Revlon Colorstay 16 Hrs eye shadow commercial
Smokey teal eyes, love it! I am so getting that quad whenever it launches in India!
IV. Bronzed and Glowing!
This is one of the hardest ones to do, the bronzer and highlighter needs to be just right to get the sun-kissed glow! When done right, it gives that natural tanned look that gives the impression that you’ve just come back from a beach vacation! I had the hardest time finding ‘good’ pictures for this one, but I really love the makeup in the ones I’ve shared below!
1. Deepika Padukone (Harper’s Bazaar)
2. Jennifer Aniston
She wears the sun-kissed tanned look so so well, its so hard to tell if its makeup or if she’s really got a glowing tan!
3. Jennifer Lopez
She is the master when it comes to this look, so much so that there is a phrase just to describe her sun kissed look : the ‘Jlo Glow’ !
4. Blake Lively
She plays the part of Serena Vanderwoodsen in Gossip Girl and her sun kissed skin along with those long blond tresses add so much to the character! Her favorite bronzer is from Physician’s Formula.
5. Kate Beckinsale
One of my favorite red carpet makeup looks this year!
6. Annalynne McCord
She plays the character of Naomi Clark in 90210 and carries the glam California girl look beautifully!
