I’ve been wearing colored contact lenses for over a year now and while previously I stuck to brands available in India, I recently tried out a very popular Korean lenses brand (Geo).  The experience was great and today I’m reviewing the Violet colored lenses I wore in my look HERE.

Geo Tri Color Violet Contact lenses

Price : $ 21.90 (approx Rs 1100  )

What the Company product description says :

Contact lenses today are not just for correcting vision, nor changing your color into another natural color. Now, you can even have contact lenses with colors that are so unusual you can’t help but stand out in the crowd. For that wow factor you’ve been waiting to come your way, try the exciting Geo Tri Color Violet. If you are the kind of person who doesn’t follow the norms, you’ll definitely be your own unique self with these contact lenses. The Geo Tri Color Violet contact lenses are also perfect for anyone who wants to have their share of the limelight. With three-color layering – a dark brown followed by golden rays, then enclosed in that violet color – you’re sure to become a head turner. Show them off especially during the day, when the sunlight will automatically make the color of your eyes look more vivid. Or you can wear them at a cosplay to be the real-life anime character you want to be. Wait no more and buy the Geo Tri Color Violet contacts for that spunky attitude in you.

My take on the product

Comfort level

The lenses are quite thin and feel very comfortable on the eyes. The hydration level is sufficient and I do not find my eyes feeling dry/itchy/uncomfortable when I wear these. I wear contact lenses for around 10-14 hours every day (even longer on some days) and most of this time is spent in front of a laptop screen but I do not experience any strain on my eyes because of these lenses. The natural fatigue that one may experience after long hours in front of the computer is there but I feel that when I’m wearing my glasses too.

 Rating : 5/5

Vision Accuracy

I have hypermetropia (near-sightedness) in both my eyes and the great thing about Dbeautyshop is that they offer prescription lenses in color in addition to the regular colored contacts. I had given them my specifications (negative power in both eyes) and the lenses arrived as per the instructions. The vision is accurate- another reason why they feel very comfortable on the eyes.

Rating : 5/5

Packaging

The package comes with an instruction pamphlet regarding directions for use and storage of the lenses. The lenses are sealed in a transparent glass bottle in solution and Dbeautyshop.cpm provides a super cute animal colored lens case (free) with the purchase. The cases have animal head shapes and while the case doesn’t say Left/right explicitly on the lid, one can differentiate easily based on the direction of the animal head. The lids always screw on perfectly aligned, just place the case in front of you such that the animal heads are facing you, the one on your left is the left and the one on the right is the right one. The case does have the markings L and R inside the container though.

The only thing I do not like is that the bottle does not contain info about the lens apart from the prescription (power) which is removed as soon as you remove the aluminium seal. If you own multiple lenses, once the seal is broken, there is no way to go back and check which bottle the lens came from. The bottle is important because it contains the expiry date of the lens. I would suggest that before you open the seal, note down the expiry date of the lenses somewhere.

Color

These are essentially violet colored lenses but what makes them so beautiful and wearable is that there is a 3-tone gradation and not a flat violet color. The inner most part is a muted yellow brown shade which blends into a soft violet shade which further blends into an outer ring of a darker greyish violet. The overall effect is quite natural, of course one would be able to tell these are contact lenses but they do not look jarringly fake or scary! The color change is perceptible on my naturally dark brown eyes, they are not too subtle but the lighter violet can definitely be seen.

I personally LOVE tri color (or 3-tone) lenses and would highly recommend these! These might not go that well with warmer skin tones but anyone with neutral tone or pink undertone would look fabulous in these!

Rating : 4.5/5

Enlargement

The size of the lens is regular and these do not provide any enlargement to the iris. I happen to have slightly smaller irises naturally so for my eyes, they do provide a little bit of enlargement. The diameter is the regular 14.0 mm (the minimum available).

About Geo Colored contact lenses :

Geo Medical  is one of the largest colored lens manufacturing company which is highly popular in Asia as well as other parts of the world. They make a huge variety of lenses in different colors as well with different effects. Browsing through any online lens web store will give you an idea about the different kind of effects that lenses can give you. There are 3-tone (or tri color, which are under review in this post), swirl , nudy, super nudy, honey wing, flower patterned and so on! There are a few guidelines to keep in mind when you purchase a Geo pair of lenses. Because of its popularity, there are a lot of fakes in the market which can seriously harm your eyes.

A few tests to ensure authenticity of your Geo lenses –

  1. Never buy from a cheap seller/website. Geo lenses are generally priced around $20 so do not buy from websites selling them at unbelievably low prices. If a sale is going on, the price may go upto $15 but not lower than that.
  2. They should be manufactured in Korea (and not China!)
  3. The lenses are either in bottles (which are sealed with aluminium caps) or in some cases blister packaging too. Make sure the seal is intact.
  4. Trademark  – the way the brand name is written, with a red line in the E and the small C shaped curve over the G is unique to authentic lenses.
  5. Lastly, the Authenticity seal must be there on the bottle in which these come. You can scratch off the seal to reveal a unique identification number which can be checked at THIS website to confirm its authenticity.

Overall, Violet colored lenses in tri-color are a nice option if you’re neutral or cool toned and want to go for something subtle yet noticable. I personally prefer these to jarringly big or intensely colored lenses and would recommend these to everyone who likes the same! Hope you found the review useful! I’ve used both monthly disposable as well as yearly and I feel they both work the same for me. If you are using colored, the monthly ones come out quite expensive. I would recommend yearly ones since they are more economical and feel pretty much the same on the eyes! You could try ordering from an international seller like Dbeauty.com or if you have Gangar Eye Nation nearby, you could check out ‘Aryan’ brand yearly ones. I have them in Hazel.

Not yet tried out Indian sites, the choices are very limited, they mostly offer monthly disposables and I prefer yearly ones.

I’ve worn Aryan, purchased from Gangar Eye nation (not online). Apart from that, there are no other options in yearly. Have you tried any?

I can’t wear Geo brand lenses – I’ve tried about 3 pairs and they just dry in my eyeball way too fast. I love love love the look of the 3 tones though. Hee! I have your elephant case as well – aren’t they cute?

The cases are super cute! Do you sensitive eyes? What brand lenses do you prefer? Have you tried any of these – EOS, Neo Vision, Vassen or Vivian?
