My take on the product
Maxfactor Mono eye shadows come in a clean and simple square packaging with a transparent lid with the brand logo emboldened on the lid. The packaging isn’t extra ordinarily attractive but its convenient and the shades are easy to locate. It does not come with either a mirror or a brush.
The texture of this powder eye shadow is soft and smooth, it is well pigmented though one needs to build up the coverage by layering for an intense effect. Like most matte eye shadows, it sheers out while blending and layering is required. It takes a little bit of work and a good brush to blend well. With my experience with Maxfactor so far, I was expecting better pigmentation and blendability. Its not that the texture is stiff or dry, it is smooth but it sheers out while blending so one needs to add more eye shadow to bring out the intensity. The staying power on my oily lids is about 3 hours without primer while with primer it stays for around 6 hours before it starts creasing. Overall, I found the formula to be a little disappointing. The color intensity is not affected by using a primer, only the staying power and creasing time improves.
The shade 08 Dark Plum :
Dark Plum is a chocolatey plum shade with a matte finish. The shade is quite versatile – it can be used for a plummy smokey eye or as a crease shade paired with blues/violets/purples/pinks. It is fairly neutral- the brown and the plum balance the cool and warm quite well. I had expected a little more plum and a little less brown, the shade leans more towards a chocolatey brown. Nevertheless, its a pretty shade, very versatile and can be used to smudge and set kohl for a softer smokey eye.
The GOOD about Maxfactor Max Effect Mono eye shadow 08 Dark Plum :
- Simple, clean packaging
- Soft, smooth texture
- Good pigmentation
- Decent staying power on normal/dry lids
- Easily available online
- Dark Plum is a versatile and beautiful shade
- Needs a bit of work for blending properly
- Staying power could have been better
- No mirror/applicator
- Shade is more chocolate than plum
EOTD : Used in outer corner and on lower lash line –
Maxfactor Max Effect Mono eye shadows come in a clean, simple packaging which is sturdy and makes shades easy to locate. The texture of this eye shadow is soft, smooth, it is well pigmented but needs to be layered as it sheers out while blending. The staying power isn’t great on my oily lids, stays for a maximum of 6-7 hours with a primer and I would not recommend it to women with very oily lids like mine. The shade Dark Plum is a lovely chocolatey plum shade with a matte finish, the shade is versatile and flattering for all skin tones. I wish it was truer to its name and more plum than chocolate. At discount price, its not a bad product but I had expected better staying power.
