Oriflame launched a few new products this month and I was quite intrigued by the Perfecting Face Primer that debuted in a new avatar in the January Catalog. The product had some tall claims about being better than MAC Prep+ Prime, I couldn’t resist trying it out especially at the offer price..So is it as good as they say it is? Lets find out!

My take on the product
Oriflame Beauty Face Perfecting Primer comes in a simple plastic tube with a black screw on cap. The packaging is convenient to use and carry. Its difficult to tell whether the tube is white or transparent (since the product itself is white). I’m hoping its transparent since it would show how much product is left in the tube.
The product has a light creamy consistency and is white in color. It blends well though it doesn’t really have the slippery smooth feel characteristic of silicone containing primers. It feels like a moisturizer and has the dewy finish of one. I would not recommend it for oily skin for this reason. As far as its effect goes, I feel my skin did look a tiny bit more *perfect* though not miraculously so. It made my T-zone a little oily after a few hours so I don’t think I’d be wearing this product in the summers. It did make my makeup last a little longer, the foundation and blush stayed a little longer than they usually do. It did not minimize my pores at all. It doesn’t leave a significant white cast on the skin like the NYX HD Photogenic Primer but it does leave a dewy film of product behind which doesn’t get completely absorbed. I feel it will fare better on normal/dry skin types.
As far as the comparison with MAC Prep+ Prime goes, I’ve tried it for a while and it feels much more slippery and smooth on the skin. It also makes the makeup last the entire day and keeps the face looking fresh. It also controls oil even though it doesn’t feel mattifying. Oriflame primer on the other hand is moisturizing and does give a healthier look to the skin while extending the makeup wear time by a small amount but oilier skin types are not going to like to especially in warmer weather!
The GOOD about Oriflame Beauty Face Perfecting Primer :
- Hygienic, easy to use, travel friendly packaging
- Uniform creamy texture
- Gives a healthier look to the skin
- Extends wear time of makeup slightly
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Oriflame Beauty Face Perfecting Primer :
- May make oily skin greasy
- Does not significantly increase makeup wear time
- Does not minimize imperfections significantly
- Only available through Oriflame consultants
In a market which has a scarcity of primers, Oriflame Beauty Face Perfecting Primer is a good option but do not expect miracles. It does give a bit of moisturization and healthier look to the look but doesn’t extend makeup wear time significantly (when compared to L’oreal Base Magique or MAC Prep+Prime). The good thing is that its quite affordable and does have a some positives so I wouldn’t call it a complete dud. But the claim to be better than MAC Prep+Prime is surely one!
