Step 1 : Moisturize your eye area few minutes prior to the makeup so that the skin looks hydrated and firm. Start the look by applying a thick line along the upper lash line using any black kohl liner.

I’ve used MAC Smolder eye kohl.

Step 2 : Using a smudging brush (MAC 219), smudge the liner as shown.

Step 3 : Start layering a vibrant purple eye shadow in the outer half of the lid and crease.

We want to create a really intense yet smoked out look. So keep building the intensity by layering the product. I have used MAC eye shadow Shock-a-holic, applied with MAC 217 brush.

Step 4 : Blend the edges using a blending brush (MAC 222)

Blending sometimes lower the intensity of the color so layer more purple after blending to deepen the color.

Step 5 : Apply a warm pink eye shadow in the inner half of the lid.

I have used Faces Glam on eye shadow Ruby Quartz. Blend the purple and pink together using light pressure strokes with a blending brush.

Step 6 : Now apply the purple eye shadow to the lower lash line.

To keep the color intense, you can first apply kohl on the waterline and then smudge it with the eye shadow. I had some remnant kohl on my lower lash line from a previous look so I have just applied the purple eye shadow over it. While applying eye shadows on lower lash line, to keep the look smokey and effortless, always start from the outer corner so that the maximum color is deposited inside and work your way inwards about 3/4th of the way.

Step 7 : Line upper lash line with black gel liner, apply same on waterline (or use kohl). Apply highlighter on brow bone and inner corner.

I have used Bobbi Brown gel liner in Caviar Ink to line and MAC Pigment- Naked to highlight. At this point, you can clean up any excess product on the outer corner or underneath the eyes using a moist Q-tip.

Here’s your Vibrant Purple smokey eye in 8 simple steps! I would pair this with a natural blush like Inglot AMC Liquid blush #87 and a sheer lip gloss like Maxfactor Max Effect Gloss Cube Spicy Plum or a soft natural pink tint like Benefit Benetint!

What would you pair this look with?

Thats very pretty…. I liked the way u diffused the intensity of the eyeshadows as u went towards the brow bone….I have never ventured into Faces Eyeshadows but let me try it out sometime…Is Bourjois 1001 cils good??

Thanks Neeraj! Faces eye shadow is good in terms of texture, staying power doesn’t compare to MAC though. Bourjois 1001 Cils is great, separates and elongates beautifully, I’ve been asked a lot about my mascara since I’ve started wearing this one!
