MAC eye shadows are the best I’ve tried so far. While many other brands offer good texture and pigmentation, when it comes to staying power – MAC is simply the best! Previously, I have reviewed the shades Cranberry, Romp, Carbonized, Ricepaper, Sketch, Honey Lust and Sable.

MAC Shock-a-holic comes in the standard black MAC round packaging with a transparent cover which makes it very easy to locate shades. It is ‘Satin‘ finish – which feels very similar to matte in terms of texture but has a bit of very fine, barely-there shimmer.

The texture of this eye shadow is smooth but slightly dry as compared to the frost and Veluxe pearl finish from MAC. It  is well pigmented and the color intensity is buildable. There is barely any fall out.  It blends well and doesn’t get uneven or patchy.  The formula is long stay and even without a primer on my oily lids, it gave a solid 7+ hours of wear. Formula-wise, its awesome!

Coming to the shade, to put it simply, its the prettiest vibrant purple I’ve come across (And I’ve tried quite a few purples!). The shade is neither too cool toned nor too warm, its neither too bright nor too smokey. Its the perfect purple! It might not look as flattering in the swatch or EOTD, but in the FOTD, you can see how great it looks! When I purchased it, I didn’t like the color as much as I do now after wearing it! The great part about this shade is that you can wear it really sheer or layer it up to its full intensity (how I’ve worn it in the FOTD). You can wear it smokey paired with black/dark brown or pair it with a ligher lavender/pink. I’ve worn it with a warm coppery pink – Faces Glam on eye shadow in Ruby Quartz.

This goes in my MUST-HAVES recommendation list from this collection. The formula is not the best from MAC but its still pretty great and the shade is absolutely gorgeous!

Overall Verdict

MAC  Shock-a-holic is a satin finish vibrant purple eye shadow which is  part of the Fall Color Collection from MAC. The texture is smooth (though slightly dry), pigmentation is buildable and formula is long wear even on the oily lids. The shade goes beautifully with Indian skin tones can be worn sheer or layered or paired with many other shades. Its one of the most gorgeous purples I’ve come across, Highly recommended!!

I’m still getting used to eyeshadows in general so I haven’t developed many color preferences. I saw a thumbnail of this post and immediately clicked it because I loved the look you created. I didn’t realize it was a new post! Hee!

Good u got it…actually its a repromote from MAC Dare to wear collection and I had got it the moment I saw this shade. Its a dramatic matte purple with eye brightening properties and very versatile…I also loved MAC’s Marvel fro Mickey contractor collection which is a frosty version of this. U tempt me to do a post on these colors soon…and purples would never go out of fashion anytime soon…
