Pink eye shadows are not my favorites – more so because I never found the shade that matched with my skin tone well. Lighter shades looked too stark and unnatural while more pigmented ones made me look ill. That is, till I came across Faces Glam On Eye shadow Ruby Quartz! Today I’m reviewing this beautiful coppery pink eye shadow from the newly launched Glam on collection from Faces cosmetics.

Price : Rs 249 (Available at medplusbeauty.com for Rs 199)

Quantity : 2 g

What Faces says about the Glam on Eyeshadow Mono :

Embellish your eyes with Faces shimmery trail of color. Advanced long-wear with powdery texture and crease-proof formula, is all what it takes to define Faces Glam On Mono Eye Shadow.

Designed as a single cute pool of color, it is easy to apply and can easily blend along with other colors.

Leaves you with those enchantingly dreamy eyes!

Shades Available : Oceanic , Mushy Mauve , Pure Gold

 My take on the product

Faces Glam on eye shadow mono comes in a round plastic packaging with a plastic cover. It doesn’t contain a mirror or an applicator. While most applicators that come with the packaging are not very useful, they are good for emergency touch-ups and this is one eye shadow where you might need touch ups if you want to wear it beyond 5-6 hours. The packaging is quite sleek and compact but I did face a little difficulty in opening the product as the opening notch is really narrow.

The eye shadow is soft and smooth in texture without being overly powdery. It goes very evenly and smoothly on the lids. The pigmentation is wonderful and it blends easily as well. The only problem lies in the wear time. On my oily lids, it began creasing after 3 hours (without primer) and with a primer (NYX HD eye shadow base), it stayed for about 6 hours. If you want to wear it for more 5-6 hours, you definitely need a primer and may require a touch-up too.

I wish the wear time was better because this shade is gorgeous!! Its a warm pink with a hint of copper. The warmth and the coppery sheen makes this shade so much wearable than cooler/lighter pink eye shadows. The sheen is very subtle and soft. I have avoided pink eye shadows as I find them clashing with my skin tone generally but this one goes very naturally. For those who like soft, subtle eye makeup looks, this is lovely shade for pairing with ethnic wear as well. It would make a beautiful bridal shade too.

Despite the not-so-good wear time, I’d definitely recommend this eye shadow, the shade is lovely and unique! Do wear a  primer underneath this for an extended wear time.

Even though I’m not wearing a liner in this EOTD, I’d recommend lining upper lash line while wearing pink eye shadows otherwise it can make one look like they’ve been crying. Avoid applying pink eye shadow on the lower lash line!

The GOOD about Faces Glam On Eye shadow Ruby Quartz :

  1. Sleek, compact packaging
  2. Soft, smooth texture
  3. Good pigmentation
  4. Blends easily without getting uneven
  5. Beautiful shade for all skin tones
  6. Not overly shimmery or glittery – ideal for soft looks
  7. Well priced, good quantity
  8. Easily available online
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Faces Glam On Eye shadow Ruby Quartz :
  1. The packaging can be a little difficult to open if you’re in a hurry
  2. It needs a primer on oily lids to stay beyond 3-4 hours

EOTD : I’ve applied this eye shadow on the lid with  matte plummy brown eye shadow in the outer corner

Overall Verdict

Faces Glam on eye shadow comes in a sleek, compact plastic packaging which can be revamped a little to make opening the case a little easier. The texture is soft and smooth, the pigmentation and color pay-off are wonderful and it blends with ease. The only area where it falls short is the wear time. Oilier lids will definitely need a primer to delay creasing after 3-4 hours of wear. The shade Ruby Quartz is a gorgeous coppery pink with a soft sheen. It is very wearable considering pinks can be a little difficult to carry. Its a unique and versatile shade , highly recommended for those who like softer eye makeup looks.

is it the same as NYX tio rust shade?

I’ve not tried NYX trio so can’t comment. From pictures, I think rust is a little warmer, this one is more on the pink side.

how abt the pink sequin? I heard that it’s the same as Mac expensive pink?and how about the Duo eyeshadow faces ameythyst 16?Looks like they have brought theFaces glam on monos – pink sequin and ruby quartz together in the duo eyeshadow. ameythyst 16?

Pink Sequin is similar to MAC Expensive Pink though I feel Expensive Pink has more of golden shimmer and a duochrome effect. From what I can see in pictures, the shades in Amethyst 16 are a little different, the lighter shade is more of a golden bronze (appears like MAC Amberlights) while the darker shade seems like a more berried version of Pink Quartz (something like MAC Cranberry). Its a gorgeous duo!

Oh I really love this! You’re right about pinks being difficult, especially on darker skintones I think. I have a few colors but most of them are less pink and hint more towards other colors. ; _ ; I wish that we had this available here in the states!
