Till 2 years back, Online beauty shopping was an alien concept for Indian consumers but today, buying makeup and beauty products online has become so easy and convenient! Today I’m reviewing my shopping experience with a new online shopping website in the Indian beauty arena – Medplusbeauty.com.

My experience with Medplusbeauty.com

 

Like most other websites, MedplusBeauty.com has a good web interface, filtering using price range/brand to make searching easier, various payment options and Free shipping over Rs 300 purchase. But what makes MedplusBeauty unique are the following -

 

Brands Available :

 

The brand range is one the biggest I’ve seen so far. Apart from the usual brands, it has some unique ones like BeYu and Givenchy which I’ve not seen on any other website. It also has a huge product range within each brand and you’ll find products here which are not available on other websites.

Virtual Makeup Studio

 

 

Here’s a little experiment I tried with the Virtual Makeup Studio. I used an existing image of a model and the following image shows the ‘Before‘ and ‘After‘ – one on each half of the face.  You can see the products used on the face on the right under ‘What I’m wearing’. This is a fun tool though I hope they add more products, right now there are only a few brand products in the Virtual Studio to try out – predominantly Deborah and Tips and Toes. You can upload your own  image too and try out the products on yourself!

 

 

Value Plus reward points system :

 

Under this system, one earns points every time they shop from Medplusbeauty.com. After accumulating a certain number of points, one can redeem those points by purchasing products from the Gift Gallery. The products are mostly Home Appliances and Travel Bags etc. The concept is really awesome and I hope they add Beauty products too to their Value Plus system. The Customer Service /Delivery :

 

There is communication at every step of the purchase – when you register, when you place your order and when your order is shipped. In case of any problems, the customer service response to the query/problem is very prompt. I had a problem with the payment and due to the connection being down, my payment could not be completed and I ended up making a second payment while the first one was also deducted from my account. I wrote to the Customer care and my extra amount was refunded the next day! They also gave me a call to confirm that my problem has been addressed and action is underway.

The Delivery is very quick and I received my parcel, neatly wrapped in bubble wrap with thermocol for extra padding within 2 days.

 

 

My Haul :

 

I decided to try out the new  Faces Glam on range and picked up an eye shadow and a blush. Also picked up an eye shadow and gloss from Maxfactor and the much raved about Bourjois bronzer. Also bought the Dove Intense Repair Mask as my hair is need of  some extra boost. Reviews will be up soon!

 

 

A few suggested improvements :

• Cash on Delivery in all cities – right now its available in only a few cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad
• Addition of Beauty products in Valueplus rewards program
• Addition of more products in the Virtual Makeup Studio

 

Overall Verdict

 

Medplusbeauty.com offers one of the largest brand and product range. The interface is excellent, the customer service and delivery is prompt and efficient and the store offers every mode of payment – credit/debit card, net banking as well as Cash on Delivery. Apart from this, it also offers a Valueplus rewards program wherein one can earn points when they shop. Another unique feature – the Virtual Makeup Studio allows one to test out products in a virtual environment.

Overall, its an excellent webstore for online beauty and makeup shopping and I’d highly recommend it!
