Today I’m reviewing the Lakme Absolute Matte lipstick in the shade Brilliant Kiss which is a soft wearable pinked plum shade.

My take on the product

 

The Lakme Absolute Matte lipstick comes in a grey metallic packaging like all the other products of this range. The packaging is much better than the Enrich range and the casing has a semi-matte finish. I won’t say I love the packaging, I feel it could have been a little better. The lipstick has a flat slanted tip for application. I prefer pointed bullets but this one is not difficult to apply with so thats not an issue.

The texture of this lipstick is smooth and it glides on the lips easily. It is quite pigmented though I find it to be more of a softer matte rather than an intense matte. Like most matte lipsticks, this one needs exfoliated and moisturized lips otherwise it sticks to the dry flaky areas. The good part is that it feel light and comfortable on the lips and is not drying. It does not feel stretchy or sticky on the lips. It does not feather, smudge or bleed. The wear time is about 5+ hours after which it leaves behind a stain which stays for a while. After 4-5 hours, despite the cool weather, my lips did not look completely dehydrated though I did feel the need for a little hydration.

I  really like the fact that its not overly pigmented. Most matte lipsticks are very pigmented which makes a little unwearable at times. This one being a softer matte is very easy to carry in the day time as well. The lipstick has a soft candy like fragrance which is a huge improvement from the medicinal smell of the Enrich range! The fragrance is quite mild so it wouldn’t be bothersome.

 

 

 

 

The shade Brilliant Kiss :

This range has quite a few plums and this is one of the prettier ones! The shade is soft wearable plum with a hint of pink. Its a beautiful plum for everyday wear and would suit most complexions. I find it difficult to carry very plummy shades and the hint of pink in this one makes it easier to carry. Worn with just black/plum liner and pink blush, it gives a face a sophisticated look.  Its a lovely shade especially for winters and I’d definitely recommend this one to everyone!

Overall Verdict

 

Lakme Absolute matte lipsticks come is a sleek grey metallic packaging. The texture is smooth and soft, the pigmentation is good and the finish is a soft matte which I find more wearable than intense mattes. The staying power is a good 5+ hours including heavy meals however one may feel the need for a little hydration after 3-4 hours or so especially in the cold weather. The lipstick feels quite light and comfortable on the lips. The shade Brilliant Kiss is a soft plum shade with a hint of pink. Its a beautiful plum for day time wear and the hint of pink makes it quite easy to carry.

I quite like these lipsticks, I wish they expand the shade range to include more warm shades. These are definitely worth a try! I’m already eyeing Classic Rose and Peach Carnation!
