Hey everyone!

Today I’m reviewing the very popular Kiehl’s lip balm #1 – the best lip balm I’ve used and a winter must-have especially for those with dry lips.

My take on the product

To start off, this is the simply the most awesome lip balm I’ve ever used! It comes in 2 kinds of packaging- tube and jar. The tube packaging which I’m reviewing today contains slightly lesser quantity. The tube is fairly neat and simple – just a white plastic tube with a black screw on cap and the details about the product printed on the white body. The tube is anyday easier to use and more hygienic than a tub packaging except for the fact that in this case, the mouth of the tube is not designed for direct application to the lips. The edges aren’t as smooth as they should be, neither is the tip slanted and hence one need to squeeze out a small quantity on to the finger and then apply the product.

The texture of this lip balm is non-sticky and the consistency of the product depends on the temperature. In warmer weather the product melts completely (like Vaseline) and is almost like a runny liquid. In cooler weather, the product  is like a thick jelly and easier to apply. The most amazing part about this lip balm is that it absorbs into the lips and instantly softens them giving a smooth, soft and hydrated appearance. The finish is clear and glossy and one can also use this as a gloss over lip colors. The softening and absorption is almost instantaneous but it doesn’t last a very long time. One needs to reapply in a few hours but I like the honesty with which they’ve mentioned this in the product description by putting in the word ‘temporarily’.

This is the best lip balm I’ve used and now I can see why this product is so popular. According to statistics, this lip balm is sold in the world every 15 seconds. Katrina Kaif swears by this and she also mentioned this  in a recent interview as the one thing she can’t live without!

The price is considerably higher than most other lip balms available in the market but it comes with 15 ml of product and it quite worth  it especially if you suffer from dry/chapped lips. Highly recommended!

 Overall Verdict

Kiehl’s lip balm#1 comes in a simple tube packaging with a screw on cap but inside the simple exterior, it packs a powerful product! This vaseline-like lip balm gets instantly absorbed into the lips giving super soft, smooth and hydrated lips in seconds. Its  a must-have product for people with dry/chapped lips and while one may pay a little more than the usual lip balm, this one gives a good 15 ml quantity compared to the regular 3-4 g. The clear, glossy finish makes it suitable to top it over lipsticks also as a clear gloss. The only con is that the mouth of the tube is not designed for direct application to the lips and one needs to use fingers to apply the product.

Rating : 4.75/5

Have you tried Kiehl’s lip balm #1?

Why would they not design the mouth for direct application? It’s weird to me. Though this balm/gloss is really popular I probably wouldn’t try it just for that. I don’t like the feeling of gloss on my fingers.

I find it much more moisturizing than Nivea lip balms!

im using the mint one, i like that this balm (only for mint flavor) gives a cool (kind of stingy but still soothing) feel, but really hate it when it melts, it oozes out of the tube all the time and is hard to apply then.

    Thanks Ankita,
I have super dry lips thru out the year. and using lotus lip balm sticks lately. Cherry flavour. It definitely protects but the summer is taking a toll on my lips. Petroleum jelly doesn’t work a bit. Will definitely buy this one today itself from inorbit! I dont care about the price if i can get rid of the dryness. Seriously! 🙂
