What  The Body  Shop says about the product :

Soft and absorbent cotton pads made from 100% organic cotton, with two different non-fluff surfaces for your everyday beauty needs.

My take on the product

In my early months of makeup blogging, I used to use the regular pharmacy cotton and used to hate the feel of the cotton against my skin – it felt rough, almost abrasive. Then my Mum gifted me a pack of The Body Shop cotton pads and I have been a fan ever since! The world of color cosmetics is quite colorful and tempting and the lesser attractive products like makeup removers and accessories get neglected. Makeup removal is as important as makeup application, if not more. One must always remove every trace of makeup before going to bed. At nighttime, the skin needs to breathe, relax and rejuvenate else one would wake up with tired, clogged skin. There is a myth that using makeup is harmful for the skin. If you use bad quality makeup, then yes it will harm your skin but using good quality products especially for the skin will always be beneficial for your skin. But not removing makeup at bedtime can cause pore clogging and  cause dullness or breakouts.

The Body Shop cotton pads are an integral part of my bedtime beauty routine. I use these not just for makeup removal but also for application of toner in the morning and once more during the day. These cotton rounds come in a bulk pack of a 100 and would last you 2-3 months depending on how many you would use in a day. These are made of soft, absorbent cotton and are very gentle on the skin. Sometimes, one needs to rub a few times to remove stubborn waterproof makeup like mascara but these have never felt harsh on my skin. They don’t disintegrate and stick to the skin or the eye lashes. In my past experience with regular cotton, with more pressure the cotton tends to break up and sticks to some areas of the face like eye lashes etc. but this never happens with the The Body Shop cotton pads.

They have different texture on the 2 sides – one side feels more textured and stronger and can take more vigorous rubbing – which I typically use for mascara removal and the other side I use for face makeup removal. Apart from makeup removal, these can be used for applying lotions/liquids like toner, removing nail enamel and even on babies.

I personally love these and even while traveling carry a few of these with me. They might feel expensive compared to regular pharmacy cotton but there is a world of difference in their quality and one you’ve used these, its impossible to go back to the old ways!

Highly recommended!

Yes, these are indeed awesome as makeup removal pads, and I use these to spread toner as well as face scrub. Works like a dream, and frankly well worth the extra bucks. Nice review Ankita. Happy New Year 2012!
